International CPA Conference: Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Hon. Nazir Ahmed and National Assembly Member Tameen Akhtar Niazi Arrive in Karachi

Karachi (03 February 2026): The Provincial Assembly of Sindh is set to host an international parliamentary conference after 14 years, as the arrival of delegations continues for participation in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Conference.

The Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, Hon. Nazir Ahmed, and Member of the National Assembly, Tameen Akhtar Niazi, have arrived in Karachi.

Upon the arrival of the Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly at Karachi Airport, MPAs Jam Shabbir Ali Khan, Saima Agha, and Yousuf Baloch received him and presented bouquets.

On the arrival of MNA Tameen Akhtar Niazi, MPAs Saima Agha, Tanzila Ume Habiba, and Heer Soho welcomed her.

Under the leadership of Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah, the Provincial Assembly of Sindh is hosting the 7th CPA Asia Regional Conference and the 2nd Joint CPA Asia & South-East Asia Regional Parliamentary Conference from today until 7 February 2026.

The conference is being attended by over 150 parliamentarians, including Speakers, Deputy Speakers, and parliamentary experts from 17 legislative assemblies.

Being held under the theme “Future Parliaments: Reimagining Democracy through Trust, Inclusion, Innovation, and Peace,” the conference will feature in-depth discussions on key issues, including parliamentary education, misinformation and the spread of fake news, climate change, parliamentary accountability, gender issues, technology, and regional cooperation.
