Total number of registered press clubs in Province as on 01-01-2024?

There are total 100 Registered Press Clubs in Province of Sindh. Division Wise detail is given as under:

(a)        Is it a fact that department is taking measures to prevent miss-information;

(b)        If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the details thereof?

MR. SHARJEEL INAM MEMON: MINISTER FOR INFORMATION:

The Information Department, Govt. of Sindh is taking measures to prevent miss-information as well as dis-information. 

The Information Department, Govt. of Sindh has evolved a mechanism for timely issuance of rebuttals / clarifications against all adverse news items on print & electronic media. The system has been in place since after the decision of the Provincial Cabinet in its meeting held on 15.08.2024.

Details:-

·         Letter to all administrative secretaries dated: 16.08.2024 to depute a dedicated team under the devoted officer to monitor news items for negative and false news on media in order to ensure issuance of rebuttal / clarification, well in time.

·         Another letter to all administrative secretaries informing therein about creation of dedicated WhatsApp group with all the administrative secretaries / head of attached departments for the purpose of ensuring more robust response to fake / adverse news items.  The step was taken in pursuance of the decision of the Provincial Cabinet of Sindh in its meeting held on 04.12.2024.

·         The Information Department, Govt. of Sindh has developed an state of art Social / Electronic Media Cell for monitoring of misinformation / fake news on media to ensure rapid response.

The number and names of weekly Newspapers being published in Sindhi Language in the Province as on September 30, 2024?

ANSWER

There are total 25 weekly newspapers being published in Sindhi Language in the Province of Sindh as September, 30, 2024. The Details are at Annexure placed on the table of the House.

District-wise number of journalists were given financial aid for medical treatment during 2023 to 2025?

The Information Department, Govt. of Sindh had notified the Division wise Scrutiny Committees for providing grant in aid / financial aid to Individual Journalists. The details of grant / financial aid provided to individual journalists during 2023-2025 are as under:-

The information Department, Government of Sindh under Section-6 (I) “PROACTIVE DISCLOSURE” of the “ Sindh Transparency and Right to Information Act, 2016” is already publishing following information online on its website:-

a)      Organization Chart, functions &duties

b)      Powers and Functions of its officers and employees

c)      Norms and criteria set by it for the discharge of its daily functions

d)     Act, Rules, Regulations, Policies, Notifications Circulars, Instruction, and other legal instruments being enforced, issued or used by it or being used by its employees in discharge of its functions.

e)      Statement of categories of information that are under its control

f)       Description of its decision making processes

g)      Details of all its administrative and developmental decisions

h)      Directory of its officers and employees with their qualifications

i)        Budget including details of all proposed and actual expenditures

j)        Manner of execution of subsidy/programme

k)      Full particulars of the recipients of concessions, permits or authorizations granted by it

l)        Facilities available with the public body for obtaining information held by it
