Will the Minister for Labour and Human Resources be pleased to State:-

District-wise number of Industries in the province along with number of new industries established and number remained closed during 2018-2023?

 

ANSWER

MR. SAEED GHANI: MINISTER FOR LABOUR AND HUMAN RESOURCES:-

 

It is submitted that 2911 new industrial units established in the province of Sindh during 2018 to 2023 and 1024 remained closed units. Details are as under:-

 

Central Division Karachi

Number of Industries units remained closed during 2020 to 2023 in the province including the reasons of enclosure?

ANSWER

MR. SAEED GHANI: MINISTER FOR LABOUR AND HUMAN RESOURCES:-

It is submitted that the only 1558 Industrial units remained closed during the year 2020 to 2023 in the province of Sindh, due to Covid-19 Pandemic. Their reasons for closer areas under:

1.       Scarcity of orders due to world wide lockdown.

2.       Scarcity of Raw Materials.

3.       Un-Availability of transport.

4.       Permission of business to only specific Industries/Factories.

5.       Labour Mobility to their home towns for safety concerns.

6.       No any other type of Global connectivity related to business.

7.       Current economic condition of country (Shortage of Gas (Shutdown of Electricity, increasing of taxes).

Will the Minister for Labour and Human Resources be pleased to State:-

 

(a)  Is it fact that the department has constructed 1504 Flats at Hyderabad.

(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, details and current status?

 

ANSWER

MR. SAEED GHANI: MINISTER FOR LABOUR AND HUMAN RESOURCES:-

It is submitted that the Workers Welfare Board Sindh has developed 1,504 flats on Tando Muhmmad Khan Road, Hyderabad, to provide housing facilities to industrial workers. The project was completed successfully in 2020, and the flats were allotted in 2021 and 2023 through the allotment committee, following the established criteria and proper procedures.

At present, the Workers Welfare Board Sindh is  responsible for handling all administrative, repair and maintenance activities related to these flats, in accordance with the prevailing policy.

a)         Is it fact that a scheme Rehabilitation & Up-gradation of Mines Labour Welfare Primary School Jhampir with cost of Rs.  5.00 (M)  is to be completed by June, 2025;

b)       If answer to (a) above is affirmative, detail of work completed and amount spent to date?

ANSWER

 

MR. SAEED GHANI: MINISTER FOR LABOUR AND HUMAN RESOURCES:-

It is submitted that the Mines Labour Welfare Organization is scheduled to complete the rehabilitation and upgradation of the mentioned school by June 2025. of the allocated amount of Rs. 5.00 million, Rs. 1.998 million has been utilized during the year 2023-24, and Rs. 3.002 million has been allocated for the year 2024-25.

Of this total, Rs. 4.00 million is designated for capital costs, while Rs. 1.00 million is allocated for the revenue side for purchase of furniture, etc.

The rehabilitation work of the old building has been completed, and the remaining finishing work is currently in progress.
