What steps are being taken by the department for the welfare and financial assistance of needy, ailing and retired national players/heroes?

ANSWER

SARDAR MUHAMMAD BUX KHAN MAHAR, MINISTER FOR SPORTS AND YOUTH AFFAIRS:

The Sports & Youth Affairs Department Government of Sindh have been providing financial assistance to needy, ailing and players.

The list of 156 players who have been given financial assistance amounting to Rs. 9.38 (M) during the last two years is at Annexure Placed on the Table of the House.

What steps are being taken for the Skill development and their moral encouragement of the Sports Women of Sindh on national/ International level by the Government of Sindh?

ANSWER

SARDAR MUHAMMAD BUX KHAN MAHAR, MINISTER FOR SPORTS AND YOUTH AFFAIRS:

Government of Sindh have been fully supporting the women of the province in every walk of life including sports in order to improve their skills. Following steps have been taken by Sports & Youth Affairs Department.

i.             Construction of Sports infrastructure exclusively for women is at Annexure placed on the Table of the House.

ii.           Hiring coaching for training sports women.

iii.         Financing sports associations for organizing events, competitions.

iv.         Facilitating their participation in Sindh games, National games, Interprovincial games, International games and at all levels.

v.           Highlighting their sports activities and potential via media coverage.

vi.         Giving them awards / prizes in recognition of their sports activities and encouragement.

Names and number of sports man (Hockey, Cricket, Football and Athletics) went abroad into International games from Sindh?

ANSWER

SARDAR MUHAMMAD BUX KHAN MAHAR, MINISTER FOR SPORTS AND YOUTH AFFAIRS:

The (59) Sportspersons went abroad to participate in international games from Sindh with the support of Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sindh. The detailed list are as under;

Hockey= 05

Football= 49

Athletics= 05

In addition to above, the young players were sent abroad for participation in different international games also by Sports & Youth Affairs Department  (details is at Annexure-I to V is placed on the Table of the House).

Steps taken by the sports Department in last 03 years to upgrade sports facilities in Karachi alongwith amount spent in this regard?

Eight Sports facilities at the cost ofRs. 521.165(M) have been upgraded and newly constructed by the Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sindh. The details are at Annexure Placed on the Table of the House.

    Detail/number of sports events held in district Central Karachi during 2018 to 2023 along with amount spent for the same? 

ANSWER

SARDAR MUHAMMAD BUX KHAN MAHAR, MINISTER FOR SPORTS AND YOUTH AFFAIRS:

In District Central Karachi, Twenty-Seven(27) different sports events were held by this Department during the period from 2018-19 to 2023-24 and an amount ofRs. 43,450,000/- were spent for the same details are at Annexure placed on the Table of the House.

In addition to above, in District Central Karachi, three (03) events have also been held so far in the current year 2024-25 and amount of Rs. 3,100,000/- were spent on the same details are at Annexure placed on the Table of the House.

What are the ministry’s key priorities for Youth Development in Sindh over the next five years?

The key priorities of this ministry for Youth Development are Social Empowerment, Political Empowerment and Economic Empowerment of Youth in pursuance of Sindh Youth policy.

What specific initiatives are being undertaken to address the challenges faced by young entrepreneurs in Sindh, such as access to financing, training and mentorship?

SARDAR MUHAMMAD BUX KHAN MAHAR, MINISTER FOR SPORTS AND YOUTH AFFAIRS:

In this context, various soft schemes designed to provide training to youth have been completed and some are currently underway to effectively tackle the challenges confronted by them. Some of the initiatives are outlined below.

The ADP Schemes No.3752 having title Training the Youth to train and providing them mentorship in the following disciplines:

·         E-Commerce Management

·         Digital Marketing

·         Website Development

·         Service Marketing

·         Sales & Management  Marketing

Furthermore, the department is continuously holding capacity building sessions for the development of the youth of Sindh.

How is the ministry working to increase youth participation in decision making processes at all levels, including government, business and civil society?

SARDAR MUHAMMAD BUX KHAN MAHAR, MINISTER FOR SPORTS AND YOUTH AFFAIRS:

To increase Youth participation in decision making process, this ministry has constituted District Youth Development Committees and Youth Volunteers Committees in Sindh province. The objective of these committees is to build their capacities by increasing their participation in Youth development program i.e. Volunteers program and Entrepreneurship program in order to enhance their capacities enabling them to play their effective role in decision making at all levels. TORs of said committees are at Annexure Placed on the Table of the House.

What initiatives ministry of sports and youth affairs is taking to promote sports among youth in Sindh also give details on sport facilities and infrastructure development plans?

SARDAR MUHAMMAD BUX KHAN MAHAR, MINISTER FOR SPORTS AND YOUTH AFFAIRS:

The Sports & Youth Affairs Department have taken following initiatives to promote sports among the Youth of Sindh Province:

1.         The Sports Department have completed 102 schemes including stadiums, gymnasiums, playgrounds and multi-purpose sports halls aimed at providing sports facilities to Youth throughout the Province of Sindh. 120 schemes are under construction and for the development of youth. 15 soft Schemes are underway to train the youth on capacity building and entrepreneurship programs.

2.         The Sports Department conducts coaching and training programs for Emerging Youth Sports persons.

3.         The Sports Department have been holding sports events regularly and particularly on important Cultural and National days.

4.         This Department have been financing Sports associations for organizing events and competitions with the objective to augmenting Sports activities.

5.         Encouraging and financing participation of Youth in National and International games.

6.         Providing financial assistance to the needy, ailing Sports Person.

Will the Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs be pleased to State:-

Can the ministry of sport and youth affair tell us about the programs aimed at talent identification, promotion and nurturing in various sports, what measures are being taken to encourage participation of women in sports?

ANSWER

SARDAR MUHAMMAD BUX KHAN MAHAR, MINISTER FOR SPORTS AND YOUTH AFFAIRS:

This Department has implemented a variety of initiatives to identify, promote, and nurture talent in different sports, with a special focus on encouraging female participation.

Key programs and measures included :

1. Under-16 District-Level Championships:

o   Organized under-16 Championship of Boxing, Judo, Football, Badminton, Basket Ball and Athletes at the district level throughout the province aimed to provide a platform for participation of young female in Sports.

2. "Pink Games" Initiative:

o   Launched across all districts of Sindh to promote women’s sports, wherein Sindh Pink Football Championship held in Lyari in December 2024, attracting widespread participation and attention of Women.

3. Annual Summer Sports Camps:

o    Conducted and organized Annual Summer and Winter Sports Camps throughout the province to provide structured training and skill development for girls in various Sports. Furthermore, these Camps serves as talent incubation hubs to identify promising athletes at the grassroots level.

4. Participation in National and International Events:

o   In order to promote and nurturing the Women participation, this Department facilitated Women athletes in prominent events such as:

§  Sindh Games

§  National Games

§  Under-16 Games

§  Quaid-e-Azam Games

These events are helpful for exposure, experience, and career development of Women in competitive Sports.
