Subject: RESOLUTION.
I am to state that the Provincial Assembly of Sindh in its sitting held on Tuesday, the 15th February, 2022 has passed the following Resolution No. 739;given notice of by Mr. Nand Kumar Goklani, MPA:
“This House resolves and recommends to the Government of Sindh to approach Federal Government to take back the unjust decision of enhancement of petroleum prices and supply of Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) instead of Local/ indigenous natural Gas to the consumers for domestic/ industrial/ CNG & commercial use in the Province of Sindh.
While the Sindh Province produces approximately 64% of the Gas in the Country for the requirement of domestic/ industrial/ commercial use in the Province of Sindh is 39%. So there is no need of RLNG for Sindh Province.
Article 158 (Priority of requirements of Natural Gas) of Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973 provides that “The Province in which a well-head of Natural Gas is situated shall have precedence over other parts of Pakistan in meeting the requirements from the well-head, subject to the commitments and obligations as on the commencing day”.
Therefore, the Federal Government take notice of violation of Article 158 of the Constitution and immediately stop the un-justified load-shedding of Gas in the Province of Sindh.
Surprising thing is that there is no any allocation of RLNG to Sindh Province SSGC supplying Local / Indigenous GAS and collecting RLNG bills which is clearly unjustified to the people of Province of Sindh.”
