WHEREAS, the Constitution of Pakistan was passed by the National Assembly of Pakistan on April 10, 1973, and has since served as the Supreme Law of the land for the past fifty Years;

 

WHEREAS, the Constitution of Pakistan embodies the aspirations of the people of Pakistan for a democratic, egalitarian, and just society;

 

WHEREAS, the Constitution of Pakistan has provided the framework for a Federal Parliamentary Democracy in which the People of Pakistan have been given the right to choose their representatives through free and fair elections;

 

Therefore, it is resolved that this House:

 

Congratulates the people of Pakistan on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Constitution of Pakistan;

 

Pays tribute to the founding fathers of Pakistan and the members of the National Assembly of Pakistan who passed the Constitution of Pakistan in 1973;

 

Commends the people of Pakistan for their steadfast commitment to democracy, the rule of law, and human rights, as enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan;

 

Recognizes the importance of the Constitution of Pakistan as the foundation of Pakistan’s democratic system, and the need to uphold and defend its principles and provisions;

 

Acknowledges the contributions of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and the Pakistan Peoples Party in the drafting, Passage, and preservation of the Constitution of Pakistan;

 

Acknowledges the crucial role played by the Pakistan Peoples Party in introducing and enacting the 18th Amendment, which restored the spirit of Constitution of Pakistan and devolved powers to the Provinces;

 

Urges the Government of Pakistan to take all necessary steps to promote public awareness and understanding of the Constitution of Pakistan, and to ensure its effective implementation across the Country;

 

Calls upon all political parties, Civil Society Organizations, and other stakeholders to join hands in upholding and defending the Constitution of Pakistan, and to work together towards a stronger, more prosperous, and democratic Pakistan.
