In pursuance of Article 107 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Provincial Assembly of Sindh shall stand dissolved on the expiration of its term of five years on the 28th May, 2018.

I am to state that the Provincial Assembly of Sindh in its sitting held on Friday, the 20th December, 2013 has unanimously passed the following Resolution moved by Mrs. Rubina Saadat Qaimkhani, Minister for Women Development, Social Welfare & Special Education, Sindh:-


Holiday in Sindh on Shahadat Anniversary of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on 27th December.

 

“Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto; was Pakistani politician who chaired the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), a centre-left political party in Pakistan. Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was the first woman elected to lead a Muslim State, having twice been Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan (1988-1990 and 1993-1996). She was Pakistan’s first and to date only female Prime Minister.

 

Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was brutally assassinated on 27th of December, 2007, after departing a PPP rally in the Pakistani City of Rawalpindi, before the two weeks scheduled Pakistani general election of 2008 where she was a leading candidate. The following year she was named one of seven winners of the United Nations Prize in the Field of Human Rights.

 

This august forum i.e Sindh Assembly as proposed to declare 27th of every December a Republic Holiday in Sindh and pray for Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.”
