“This Assembly is of the view that the maternal mortality and morbidity levels are unacceptably high and believes in the motto “No women should die while giving life.

It recommends to the Provincial and Federal Government to address the interlinked root causes of maternal mortality and morbidity such as poverty, malnutrition, lack of accessible and appropriate health-care services, education and gender inequality and integrate a human-rights perspective into such initiatives, addressing the impact that discrimination against women has on maternal mortality and morbidity.

This Assembly also pays tributes to Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for recognizing that ‘Safe Motherhood’ was an essential part of the National Health Policy and introducing Lady Health Workers Programme for this purpose. This Assembly further recommends to the Government to enhance and strengthen this initiative.”
