7526.   *Ms. Ghazala Siyal:  Will the Minister for Mines & Mineral be pleased to state:-

Estimated quantity of Granite to be mined and estimated deposits of the same at Karonjhar mountain range?

ANSWER

Mir Shabbir Ali Bijarani, Minister for Mines & Mineral Development:

It is to state that a Feasibility Study of Granite Deposits in District Tharparkar has been carried out, which estimates the quantity of Granite at Karonjhar and Nagarparkar being 26 billion tons, out of which10.060 billion tons as readily available/identified in mapped reserves.

Further, M&MDD is also carrying out the task of reserves estimation of minerals across the province, which would include assessment of subsurface reserves of Granite in Karonjhar Range.

 

7640    *Ms. NusratSeharAbbasi:    Will the Minister for Mines & Mineral be pleased to state:-

            Number of ADP schemes of Mines and Minerals allocated during 2018-19 and how much of the same has been implemented?

It is to state that following three (03) schemes were allocated during the year 2018-19. The implementation status of the same is as under:

Feasibility study of Granite deposits in District Tharparkar

The scheme was reflected as ADP No. 1491 in F.Y 2018-19 with allocation of total estimated cost of Rs.50 Million. It has been completed in June 2021.

Environmental Impact Assessment due to mining activities in Sindh

The scheme was reflected as ADP No. 1492 in F.Y 2018-19 with allocation of total estimated cost of Rs.22.827 Million. It has been completed in June 2020.

 

03

Environmental Mapping of Mining areas of Sindh for conservation of mineral and natural resources

The scheme was reflected as ADP No. 1493 in F.Y 2018-19 with allocation of total estimated cost of Rs.39.80 Million. The scope of scheme is being revised keeping in view the observations of Technical Committee of Planning and Development Department.

 

 

7641.   *Ms. Nusrat Sehar Abbasi:  Will the Minister for Mines & Mineral be pleased to state:-

(a) Whether it is fact that job opportunities wereprovided from January 2015 to May 2018by the department?

(b) If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the details thereof?

           

ANSWER

Mir Shabbir Ali Bijarani, Minister for Mines & Mineral Development:

During the period from January, 2015 to May 2018, seven officers in BPS-17 and four officers in BPS-16 were appointed by the Department through Sindh Public Services Commission Sindh.

Major functions of the Mines and Mineral Department?

Major functions of the Department are as under:

• Regulate mining Labour Laws to ensure Health and Safety of mine workers.

• Development of Mineral Resources.

• Grant of reconnaissance, exploration, mining licenses, leases and permits.

• Regulation and monitoring of mining operation.

• Collection of royalty and other revenues.

• Mineral Exploration.

• Negotiate mineral agreement.

• Preparation and maintenance of relevant data base.
