ALI KHURSHIDI, MPA: Will the Honourable Minister for Local Government, Sindh may please to give answer/statement that the Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KW&SB) shows no interest in resolving issues arise during current monsoon spell. Sewerage system collapses due to incompetency of KW&SB as they were not doing cleaning of sewerage lines on regular basis?

 

05-       CALL ATTENTION NOTICE NO. 32 OF 2022; GIVEN NOTICE OF BY MS. RABIA KHATOON, MPA: Will the Honourable Minister for Local Government, Sindh may please to respond over construction of bridge between Korangi Crossing to Qayoomabad over Malir Nadi. It is public demand bridge for the people of Korangi/ Landhi/ Ibrahim Hyderi since long time and no positive action was taken for this?

7197.   *Mr. Kanwar Naveed Jamil:           Will the Minister for Mines & Mineral be pleased to state:-

(a)   Whether steps have been taken by Sindh Government against illegal extraction of Granite stones from Karoonjher hills in District Tharparkar;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the details thereof?

ANSWER

Mir Shabbir Ali Bijarani, Minister for Mines & Mineral Development:

There has been no illegal mining /extraction of the granite stone from the Karoonjhar Hills in District Tharparkar. However, after spreading of the news in the electronic/social media about illegal cutting of the granite stone in Karoonjhar hills at district Tharparkar, the following steps have been taken:

i)        Minister for the Mines & Mineral Development took immediate notice of the issue on spreading of the news regarding illegal cutting of the granite stone from the Karoonjhar hills and got notified a Fact Finding Committee headed by Secretary, Mines & Minerals Development Department from the Chief Secretary, Sindh. The committee was also represented by the Forest, Culture, Tourism, Environment, and Revenue Departments. The committee visited the area and also held public hearing on 15.10.2021 at Nagarparkar. The committee ascertained that there was no illegal mining of the granite stone in the area.  

 

ii)         The Department has also issued directions to DC and SSP Tharparkar for stoppage of mining of granite from the Karoonjhar hills is at Annexure Placed on the Table of the House.

 

 

7525.   *Ms. Ghazala Siyal:  Will the Minister for Mines & Mineral be pleased to state:-

(a)   Whether local residents and social organizations have been taken into confidence prior to mining of granite at Karoonjhar mountain range;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is in affirmative, the details thereof?

ANSWER

Mir Shabbir Ali Bijarani, Minister for Mines & Mineral Development:

Mining Leases of Granite at Karoonjhar Mountain Range Nangarparkar, District Tharparkar are very old and same were granted in the year 1990s and 2000s. After the grant of mining leases, the same remained under litigation, and mining operations could not be carried out till todate. However, M/s FWO, whose mining lease falls outside the Karoonjhar Mountain Range, started work in 2018 but later stopped the same in 2019.

7638    *Ms. Nusrat Sehar Abbasi:  Will the Minister for Mines & Mineral be pleased to state:-

(a)   Whether it is fact the Government has planned to establish central rescue station at tharparkar;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the details thereof including the amount to be spent on the same?

(c)   Whether there is any plan to establish the same in other Districts;

(d)   If answer to (c) above be in the affirmative, the provide details thereof?

The Government has not planned to establish any central rescue station at Tharparkar.

            Details of the roads constructed by the mines and minerals department in areas from where minerals are extracted during the last five years along with the amount spent and number of KMS completed and the present status of the same?

ANSWER

Mir Shabbir Ali Bijarani, Minister for Mines & Mineral Development:

The Mines and Mineral Development Department has not constructed any road during the last five years in the areas from where minerals are extracted.

 

7896.   *Mr. Arif Mustafa Jatoi:      Will the Minister for Mines & Mineral be pleased to state:-

            The total revenue generated by the Department from January 1, 2021 till December 31, 2021?

ANSWER

Mir Shabbir Ali Bijarani, Minister for Mines & Mineral Development:

The total revenue generated by the Department from January 1, 2021 till to date is (854.66 Million).

The Head-wise breakup of total Revenue generated by the Department is at Annexure Placed on the Table of the House.
