92.       *Mr. Arif Mustafa Jatoi:      Will the Minister for Social Welfare be pleased to state:-

 

(a)   Is it a fact that darul-aman for rehabilitation of destitute women exist in few districts only;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the reasons thereof?

 

ANSWER

 

MR. MUHAMMAD SAJID JOKHIO, MINISTER FOR SOCIAL WELFARE:

 

Yes, there are following Darul Amans working under the supervision & control of Social Welfare Department, Sindh.

1.      Darul Aman, Karachi run by the Panah Trust as per MOU signed with SWD.

2.      Darul Aman Hyderabad (Functional)

3.      Darul Aman, Sukkur. (Functional)

4.      Darul Aman, Larkana. (Functional)

5.      Darul Aman, Shaheed Benazirabad. (Nonfunctional due to lack of staff)

Initially these institutions were established at Divisional Headquarters. However, the buildings of Two Darul Amans at Mirpurkhas & Jacobabad are under construction. Now thereafter, the Social Welfare Department shall also establish the Darul Amans in other Districts of Province, accordingly.

 

 

425.     *Mr. Arsalan Taj Hussain:  Will the Minister for Social Welfare be pleased to state:-

 

Number/names of local and foreign NGOS working in the province along with amount disbursed to the same by Sindh government?

ANSWER

 

MR. MUHAMMAD SAJID JOKHIO, MINISTER FOR SOCIAL WELFARE:

 

1.      The total numbers of local NGO registered under Voluntary Social Welfare Agency (Registration & Control) Ordinance, 1961 is 12043.

2.      The Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh provides grant in aid only to the local NGOs and no foreign NGO (INGO) provided any grant by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh.

3.      The details of grant in aid provided during last two financial years through Sindh Social Welfare Council is as under:

a.      During the financial year 2015-16 an amount Rs.2,800,000/- was disbursed to 21 local NGOs (list is at annexure placed on the Table of the House

b.      During 2016-17 an amount of Rs.4,800,000/- was disbursed to 36 local NGOs (list is at annexure placed on the Table of the House

 

 

609.     *Mr. Rabistan Khan:           Will the Minister for Social Welfare be pleased to state:-

 

Amount earmarked during 2017-18 for economic support to handicapped women and amount actually spent along with criteria for selection?

 

ANSWER

 

MR. MUHAMMAD SAJID JOKHIO, MINISTER FOR SOCIAL WELFARE:

 

No separate funds for economic support of handicapped women have been earmarked / allocated to the Social Welfare Department during the financial year 2017-18. However, (05) Rehabilitation Centre for Physically Handicapped (RCPH) for male and female being run under Social Welfare Department where Handicapped persons are provided Rehabilitation Service.

Moreover, 126 Women Welfare Centre throughout Sindh are run by the Social Welfare Department wherein sewing, cutting, tailoring, embroidery and knitting skill trainings are provided to the women.

There are 04 Darul Aman functioning at Hyderabad, Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad and Larkana and 02 Darul Aman at Mirpurkhas and Jacobabad are under construction.

On the directions of High Court, The Safe Houses are being functionalized in all districts of province as a temporary shelter for women under threat or need.

Furthermore, Women Development Department also look- after the matters of women.

There is no any scheme for group marriage of poor girls or arranging dowry for them is under consideration in this department currently. However, this department supports and encourages NGOs working in this field.

Year in which Benazir women support program started under social welfare department with its aims and objects and year in which the same closed with reasons of its closure?
