SHAH NAWAZ JADOON, MPA: Will the Honourable Minister for Local Government,Sindh may please to give answer/statement that in my Constituency PS-113 Kemari Massan Road is under construction from the period of more than one year, due to which dust is flying which causes skin diseases to the residents, kindly may apprise when the said road will be completed /constructed?

  

04- CALL ATTENTION NOTICE NO.04 OF 2021;GIVEN NOTICE OF BY MR. MUHAMMAD SHABBIR, MPA:Will the Honourable Minister for Industries & Commerce, Sindh may please to give answer/statement that main road from Sher Shah Chowk to Pankha Hotel, Miran Naka Bridge is in deteriorated condition and there is a drainage nala on the side of road which is filled with poisonous water causes skin diseases to the residents, when it will be constructed/completed?


05- CALL ATTENTION NOTICE NO.01 OF 2021;GIVEN NOTICE OF BY MS. MANGLA SHARMA, MPA:Will the Honourable Minister for Local Government,Sindh may please to give answer/statement that it is mandatory to wear a mask  under the precautionary measure during the pandemic disease Corona. It has been a year and half since this pandemic disease and millions of used masks become part of garbage on a daily basis. What steps have been taken by the Government of Sindh to ensure the safe disposal of these used masks?

No, it is not a fact. As per information / report submitted by the Director (Excise & Taxation), (Excise), Karachi no incident of death took place during the year 2017 and 2018 due to consumption of poisonous liquor.

(a)  Is it a fact that department has started crackdown against manufacture and sale of raw alcohol in the province;

(b)  If answer to (a) above is affirmative, cases registered against involved and recovery of raw alcohol made during 2017 and 2018?

(a)    Yes, it is a fact, the Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department despite limited resources is striving hard against the menace of narcotics from the society. The department is utilizing all available resources and taking all possible measures to curb the sale, manufacturing, distribution and consumption of raw / illicit liquor from the society. The Department despite all constraints has continuously ledged crackdown against the culprits involved in the heinous crimes.

 

(b)    In this regard during the years 2017 and 2018 the Department has registered following number of cases and recovered following quantity of illicit liquor:-

a)      Yes,

b)      Following are the reasons:

 

i.        Karachi is a port city and most of the goods are imported for other 3 Provinces i.e. KPK. Balochistan and Punjab, which are carried to those Provinces in the heavy goods vehicles registered in those Provinces.

Mostly the owners of vehicles running the business of heavy goods vehicles belong to KPK and Balochistan, hence, they prefer registration of their vehicles in the home province.

District wise number of Guest Houses and Hotels throughout Sindh as well as volume of Tax collected from the same during 2015 to 2018?


 

ANSWER

 

Mr. Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Minister for Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control:

The Bed Tax on hotels was used to be collected by the Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department, which was abolished vide Sindh Finance Act dated 16th July, 2013. Hence, this tax is no longer being collected by the Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department.
