487. *Mr. Khurrum Sher Zaman: Will the Minister for Livestock & Fisheries be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that feudal lords and influential political persons have ‘occupied Manchhar Lake’ and stopping fishermen from catching fish;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the reasons thereof?
ANSWER
Mr. Abdul Bari Pitafi, Minister for Livestock & Fisheries:
No
As per record of this department that there is no any feudal lord and influential political persons occupying Manchar Lake and stopping fishermen from catching fish. All the fishermen of Manchar lake are fishing unhindered. During the current financial year 2020-21 more than 1195 fishing licenses have been issued so far.
Details of fishing licenses issued during last 03 years including current financial year 2020-21 is at Annexure Placed on the Table of the House.

ANSWER
Mr. Abdul Bari Pitafi, Minister for Livestock & Fisheries:
No such report has been received in this regard, that feudal lords and influential political persons have occupied Kun Purao Lake.64 fishing licenses are issued to fishermen of “Kun Purao Lake” during current Financial Year 2020-21 where fishermen are fishing unhindered. Details of fishing licenses issued during last 03 years including current financial year 2020-21 is attached at Annexure “A” Placed on the Table of the House.
2225. *Mr. Jamaludin Siddiqui: Will the Minister for Livestock & Fisheries be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that thousands of people have become unemployed due to monopoly of Chinese company on small shrimp business;
(b) If answer to (b) above is affirmative, measures taken by Sindh Govt. in this regard?
ANSWER
Mr. Abdul Bari Pitafi, Minister for Livestock & Fisheries:
No. As a matter of fact there is no any Chinese company registered with this department that may involve in any small shrimp business.
2498. *Ms. Sarwat Fatima: Will the Minister for Livestock & Fisheries be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that the Government is providing facilities of chilling, landing platform and storage facility for fish in District Thatta;
(b) If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the details thereof?
ANSWER
Mr. Abdul Bari Pitafi, Minister for Livestock & Fisheries:
Government is only providing landing platforms such as floating jetties. No chilling facility and storage facility is provided for fish in district Thatta. Details of floating jetties/ landing platforms are at Annexure Placed on the Table of the House.
2897. *Ms. Adeeba Hassan: Will the Minister for Livestock & Fisheries be pleased to state:-
Month-wise catch of salt water marine life (fish, lobster, crab etc.) during January, 2014 to December, 2018?
ANSWER
Mr. Abdul Bari Pitafi, Minister for Livestock & Fisheries:
Month wise catch data of fish, lobster, crab as received from Fisherman Cooperative Society Limited is attached at Annex-I Placed on the Table of the House.
Marine Fisheries Department has provided year- wisa data of lobster from 2014 to 2018 Annex-II Placed on the Table of the House.

How many fish processing packing plants currently running in Sindh Province to improve export of fisheries?
ANSWER
Mr. Abdul Bari Pitafi, Minister for Livestock & Fisheries:
There are seventy two (72) fish processing / freezing plants are running in Sindh Province and engaged in export of sea food,
3401. *Ms. Rana Ansar: Will the Minister for Livestock & Fisheries be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that any scheme of government is in vogue under which boats and various materials are being provided to the fishermen;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the detail thereof?
ANSWER
Mr. Abdul Bari Pitafi, Minister for Livestock & Fisheries:
No any scheme of government is in vogue under which boats and various materials are being provided to the fishermen.
4166. *Mr. Hamid-uz. Zafar: Will the Minister for Livestock & Fisheries be pleased to state:-
Measures taken for the development of Karachi fish Harbour during last five years?
ANSWER
Mr. Abdul Bari Pitafi, Minister for Livestock & Fisheries:
The Government of Sindh has approved the scheme namely “Rehabilitation & Renovation of Karachi Fish Harbour – External Services” at a cost of Rs.1, 616.384 million. The work has been commenced in the month of February 2019 and expected to complete in the year 2022.The salient features of the scheme are;
· Fire Fighting system
· Sewerage Network System + STP’s
· Under Ground Water Tank & Pump Room
· Water Tower
· External electrical works
· Roads and Stone Pitching
· CCTV System for Harbour
· Fixed Jetty (Check Post)
· Main KFHA Boundary Wall
· Steel Approach Bridges
· Rehabilitation of Floating Pontoons
6574. *Mr. Arif Mustafa Jatoi: Will the Minister for Livestock & Fisheries be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that the department has supplied fishing boats and engines to poor fishermen during 2018-20;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, types of the same and name of suppliers?
ANSWER
Mr. Abdul Bari Pitafi, Minister for Livestock & Fisheries:
Yes. It is a fact that department has supplied fishing boats and engines etc to poor fishermen during 2018-20 under the development scheme namely “Provision of Fishing Boats, Engines and Nets to poor fishermen” approved under the ADP2017-18 to 2019-20, at the cost of Rs.100.000 million.
Following items were procured:-
a. fishing nets,
b. Out Board Engines,
c. In Board Engines
d. Insulated Ice Boxes,
e. Plastic fish crates,
f. Wooden Boats.
An amount of Rs. 91.866 million was incurred. The scheme has completed its development phase on 30 June 2020.
