13. *Mr. Arif Mustafa Jatoi: Will the Minister for Agriculture be pleased to state:-
The planned sowing acreage & production target for Sugar Cane in 2018-19?
ANSWER
Mr. Muhammad Ismail Rahu, Minister for Agriculture:
For the year 2018-19, the FCA in its 10th meeting held on 10th April 2018, under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research, at Islamabad, fixed the target of Area and Production of Sugarcane crop 2018-19, for Sindh province, as under:-
Targets of Sugarcane Crop for the year 2018-19
Area = 322,000 Hectares
OR 795,694 Acres
Production = 18,752,000 Tons
Yield / Hectare = 58.236 Tons
1014. *Ms. Nusrat Sehar Abbasi: Will the Minister for Agriculture be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that counterfeit fertilizer is being sold in the province;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, action taken number of people booked during 2013 to 2018 alongwith steps taken to ensure that quality fertilizer is being provide?
ANSWER
Mr. Muhammad Ismail Rahu, Minister for Agriculture:
Yes. Some incidents of sale of counterfeit fertilizers have been reported.
To combat the occurrence of such incidents, Fertilizers Inspectors of Agriculture Extension Wing in all districts of province regularly visit and check shops of fertilizer dealers and warehouses of different fertilizer companies in their jurisdiction. The concerned Fertilizer inspectors draw the fertilizer samples and send to the fertilizer testing laboratories for analysis in order to ensure the sale of standard fertilizers to the growers on regular basis.
In this regard from 2013 to 2018 total 4,368 samples of fertilizer were drawn throughout Sindh and sent to fertilizer testing laboratories. Out of above, 488 samples were declared as sub-standard and actions were initiated against the accused dealers as per Fertilizer Control Act 94 & Rules 99.

(a) Is it a fact that the rice of Sindh is exported to the foreign countries;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the quantity of the same exported during 2017-18 upto June?
ANSWER

(a) Yes, rice of Sindh is exported to the foreign countries.
(b) During 2017-18 (from July 2017 to June 2018)following quantity of rice was exported from Sindh to foreign countries:

(a) Is it a fact that some rare varieties of dates are not cultivated in the province;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, measures taken by agriculture research labs to make them cultivated?
ANSWER
Mr. Muhammad Ismail Rahu, Minister for Agriculture:
Yes.
Some of the big progressive growers have imported Dates varieties like Dakki, Muzawati, etc. to plant on limited areas of their farms. With the passage of time those would be cultivated on large scale if adopted in local soil and environmental conditions.
As far as the measures of Agriculture Research Laboratory are concerned, there is only one tissue culture laboratory at Date Palm Research Station Kotdiji under process of establishment.

(a) Is it a fact that any mango research institute has been established;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the details thereof including amount spent?
ANSWER
Mr. Muhammad Ismail Rahu, Minister for Agriculture:
Yes. Mango Evolution Section of Horticulture Research Center, Mirpurkhas has been up-graded as Mango Research Institute, Mirpurkhas under 4-tier formula vide Government Notification No. BA: Agri/4-tier/Agri/Res/2017 Dated 07.12.2017.

No. The department has not provided solar tube wells during 2019.
