 214.     *Ms. Nusrat Sehar Abbasi:    Will the Minister for Livestock & Fisheries be pleased to state:-

 (a)   Is it a fact that a project of construction of veterinary center at village Ahmed Khan Bhurgari Taluka kot G. Muhammad district Mirpurkhas was to be completed by June 2018;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, amount allocated and actually spent on the same?

ANSWER

Mr. Abdul Bari Pitafi, Minister for Livestock & Fisheries:

Yes, it is fact that the project of “Construction of Veterinary center at village Ahmed Khan Bhurgri, Taluka Kot Ghulam Muhammad District Mirpurkhas” was to be completed by June 2018. However; the same has not been completed within stipulated time due to less release of funds during 2017-18. Hence, the execution period of the scheme has been extended for one more year and reflected in current year ADP 2018-19 @ serial # 1055.

Rs.5.0850 million was the total allocation on scheme i.e. (Cap. Rs.4.085 & Rev. Rs.1.000 million) against the allocation only Rs.1.363 million were released & Rs.1.2626 million were utilized during last financial year 2017-18. However; work on super structure is in progress. The scheme will be completed in the year i.e. 2018-19, subject to release of funds.

215.     *Ms. Nusrat Sehar Abbasi:    Will the Minister for Livestock & Fisheries be pleased to state:-

 (a)   Is it a fact that a project of up-gradation of veterinary center at Kot Miras Landhi, Taluka Kot Ghulam Muhammad, District Mirpurkhas with cost of Rs.6.000 million was to be completed by June 2018;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the details thereof alongwith amount spent?

 ANSWER

Mr. Abdul Bari Pitafi, Minister for Livestock & Fisheries:

Yes, it is fact that the project of “Up-gradation of Veterinary center at Kot Mirs Landhi, Taluka Kot Ghulam Muhammad District Mirpurkhas” with cost of Rs.5.093 million (instead of Rs.6.000 million) was to be completed by June 2018. However; the same has not been completed within stipulated time due to less release of funds during 2017-18. Hence, the execution period of the scheme has been extended for one more year and reflected in current year ADP 2018-19 @ serial # 1054.

Further only Rs.1.081 million were utilized out of total release i.e. Rs.1.181 million during the last financial year 2017-18. However; the foundation work is in progress. The scheme will be completed in the year i.e. 2018-19, subject to release of funds.

*229.   Ms. Nusrat Sehar Abbasi:      Will the Minister for Livestock & Fisheries be pleased to state:-

 (a)   Is it a fact that a project of development of public water (Lakes) and surveillance of coastal water to improve productivity and enhance and availability of fish (Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro, SBA, Karachi and Sanghar with cost of Rs.57.796 million is to be completed by June 2018;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, detail of work sofar completed?

ANSWER

Mr. Abdul Bari Pitafi, Minister for Livestock & Fisheries:

Yes. The scheme has been completed on 30-06-2018.

 The scheme was approved under Annual Development Programme 2015-16 to 2017-18 at the total cost of Rs. 57.796 million and was operated and implemented  by two Directorates of Fisheries  Sindh (1) Directorate of Fisheries Sindh , Inland Hyderabad (Rs. 50.456 m  and (2) Directorate of Fisheries Sindh (Marine) Karachi (Rs.7.340 m) with following objectives:

·         Development of public waters through replenishment of 7.000 million fish seed.

·         Human resource development regarding conservation measures.

·         Surveillance of coastal waters to curb the illegal fishing.

 489.     *Mr. Khurram Sher Zaman: Will the Minister for Livestock & Fisheries be pleased to state:-

 What actions has the department taken on the issue of dead fish in Manchhar Lake?

 ANSWER

Mr. Abdul Bari Pitafi, Minister for Livestock & Fisheries:

When the issue came to the notice of this department; a proper inquiry was carried out by the officers of concerned area, they found that there was no any environmental/ water quality threat to aquatic animals in Manchar Lake. It happened as a result of strict conservation by the department on catching of undersize fish. The poachers threw their undersize catch in bulk near the embankment of Manchar Lake.

This department keeps a vigilant eye upon the catching of under size fish. As a result 12 offenders were apprehended and challan in the Court of law.
