The salient features of the Cultural Complex at Mirpurkhas along with its total cost?

The Cultural Complex Mirpurkhas consists of:-
i) Library with Computer Section.
ii) Children Section
iii) Main Reading Hall.
iv) Auditorium
v) Ajrak Club
vi) Art Gallery
vii) Benazir Bhutto Corner.
Cost of Cultural Complex Mirpurkhas.
Rs.73.521 Million.

(a) Is it a fact that a land-mark site known as “Jinnah Courts“ near Governor House is property of Provincial/District Government;
(b) If answer to (a) above be is affirmative, current usage of the same?
ANSWER

Yes, it is a property of Sindh Government.
Jinnah Court was built between June 1932 and June 1933. This building is protected under the Sindh Cultural Heritage (Preservation) Act of 1994 and is property of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Department, Government of Sindh.
Jinnah Courts had been constructed by receiving donation from the people as well as local bodies of the province to provide residential facilities to the students who came from across Sindh to pursue their studies in Karachi.
The hostel remained a place of high importance during the Pakistan Movement. The father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah also visited the hostel. This building originally named as the Leslie Wilson Muslim Hostel. Soon after independence, the building was named after Mr. Jinnah. This building was transferred to Culture department in 1986 to establish Cultural complex and facilities to promote tourism. The Rangers has shifted their headquarters to the Jinnah Courts on a temporary basis since April 1999.

(a) Is it a fact that Keenjher Lake has not one hotel/motel of international standard;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the reasons thereof?
ANSWER

There is no such standard called “International Standard” it depends on affordability of Tourist. However, there is Resort containing 24 huts and Restaurant of very good standard where a sufficient number of visitors /Tourists are availing facilities satisfactorily.
455. *Mr. Arsalan Taj Hussain: Will the Minister for Culture, Tourism & Antiquities be pleased to state:-
Progress on providing financial security to poor artists?

The Culture Department Government of Sindh is providing financial support to the needy writers, poets, artists etc, in the shape of endowment fund as well as stipend.
During the last five years, following funds have been disbursed amongst the needy writers, poets, artists etc.

(a) Is it a fact that the Federal Government has transferred the province share of funds in Museum Compensation Fund and Pakistan Culture and Arts Foundation Relief Fund;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the details thereof?
ANSWER

It is stated that no share of Museum Compensation Fund has been transferred to Province of Sindh.
549. *Mr. Khurram Sher Zaman: Will the Minister for Culture, Tourism & Antiquities be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that “bamboo huts” built within the buffer zone of the world heritage site, Makli necropolis are like to be removed;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the details thereof?
ANSWER
SYED SARDAR ALI SHAH, MINISTER FOR CULTURE, TOURISM & ANTIQUITIES:
It is stated that the Bamboo huts built by Heritage Foundation Pakistan for the conservation works and the community engagement on the Makli site are made up of zero carbon material and the same will be removed as and when works of conservation on the site are completed.
550. *Mr. Khurram Sher Zaman: Will the Minister for Culture, Tourism & Antiquities be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that the department is still pursuing the transfer of Frere Hall and Aiwan-e-Riffat Auditorium from the KMC;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the details thereof?
ANSWER
SYED SARDAR ALI SHAH, MINISTER FOR CULTURE, TOURISM & ANTIQUITIES:
It is to state the department has approached for the transfer of Frere Hall from Karachi Metropolitan Corporation for better utilization, since it is protected monument under Antiquities Act, 1975. The conservation work on the monument has already been done by the Antiquities Department at the cost of Rs.38.06 million in 2011-12 and 2012-13.
