Provincial Assembly of Sindh in its sitting held on Friday, the 22nd February, 2019 has unanimously passed the following Resolution moved by Mr. Ghanwer Ali Khan Isran, MPA:
“This House categorically rejects targeted victimization under the guise of accountability; rejects the selective and discriminatory accountability; vociferously renounces the way & manner of the arrest of Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Khan Durrani without any offence being proved against him; and unequivocally condemns the reprehensible manner in which the search of his home was conducted by NAB officials, which went on for hours at a time when only his wife, daughters and daughter-in-law were at home.
This House also resolves and recommends to the Government and the Chief Minister to approach the Federal Government to request an inquiry by Chairman NAB into the reprehensible behavior of NAB officials, who raided Speaker Sindh Assembly’s House.”.

“This House resolves to condemn the recent unsubstantiated allegation leveled by India against Pakistan. It is clear that this war mongering and hype is being created merely to influence the upcoming elections in India.

“This House strongly condemns the recent wave of repression and the continued atrocities including use of chemical weapons and pellet guns by more than 700,000 occupying Indian forces who have blinded and disabled hundreds of innocent Kashmiri men, women and children. This brutal use of force can never suppress the legitimate struggle of the people of Kashmir for their rights to self-determination as per the UN Resolution. This House and the people of Sindh stands in solidarity with brave people of the Indian Occupied Kashmir.
The August House also call upon International Community to end its indifferent attitude and deliberate negligence of the systematic repression of Kashmiri people by the Indian forces in the occupied valley.”.

*65. Mr. Arif Mustafa Jatoi: Will the Minister for Excise, Taxation & Narcotics be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that the Excise Police conduct spot-checking and maintain checkpoints on Federal Highways and the M-9 Motorway in Sindh;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, are they required to get approval of the Federal Government?
ANSWER
Mr. Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Minister for Excise, Taxation& Narcotics:
Yes, Excise Police does conduct spot-checking and maintain check points on Federal Highways and the M-9 motorway. However, such check points are declared by the Home Department, Government of Sindh under clause (s) of sub section (I) of Section 4 of the code of Criminal Procedure Act, 1898. As such no bar is placed in the said provision of law for seeking approval/permission of the Federal Government.

(a) Is it a fact that Cantonment areas are not subject to Sindh Government taxes;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the reasons therefor?
ANSWER
Mr. Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Minister for Excise, Taxation& Narcotics:
Yes, cantonment areas are not subject to Sindh Government taxes i.e Property Tax and Entertainment Duty levied and collected by Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department.
The reason thereof is the restriction imposed through Presidential Order-13 of 1979 (published on 22nd August 1979) to levy and collect the Property Tax, Entertainment Duty from the Cantonment areas, which is now being collected by the respective Cantonment Boards.

(a) Is it a fact that Commercial License Plates are colored black and such vehicles have to operate with a route permit only;
(b) If answer (a) above is affirmative, the details thereof?
ANSWER
Mr. Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Minister for Excise, Taxation& Narcotics:
Yes, all the vehicles registered being Commercial are allotted black Registration Number Plates, after the examination of vehicle(s) regarding its Fitness U/S 39 of the Motor Vehicle Ordinance, 1965 from Motor Vehicle Examiner and issuance of NOC for permit U/S 44 of Motor Vehicle Ordinance, 1965, by the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) of Transport Department, Government of Sindh. The total number of such Vehicles till to date comes to is 580,244.

The number of special license plates for vehicles in Sindh, along with the total number of registered vehicles in Sindh?
