ALI GHULAM, MPA: Will the Honourable Minister for Local Government, Sindh may please to give answer/statement that is it a fact that in my Constituency PS-41 (Sanghar-I), the shortage of water has been seen in water supply line for Sanghar City; if so, what steps are taken by Government to resolve this issue?

4.   CALL ATTENTION NOTICE NO. 157 OF 2019;GIVEN NOTICE OF BY MS. HEER SOHO, MPA: Will the Honourable Minister for Excise & Taxation, Sindh may please to give answer/statement that is it a fact that the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) infrastructure CESS has denied to pay its dues of 6.21 Billion Rupees to Sindh Government; if so, reasons thereof?

*276.   Mr. Arif Mustafa Jatoi:        Will the Minister for Forest & Wildlife be pleased to state:-

(a)                   List of protected animals in Sindh alongwith the penalty for hunting them;

(b)                  It is a fact that no one has been fined/punished in 2018;

(c)                   If answer to (b) above is affirmative, the reasons thereof?

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Minister for Forest &Wildlife:

a)      List of protected animals in Sindh alongwith the penalty for hunting them are as follows:-

b)  No, it is not fact.

Two (02) cases of illegal hunting of Chinkara Deers at Umerkot and Tharparkar have been detected and fined for Rs. 60000/- and 30000/- respectively in 2018

(a)    Is it a fact that the excessive withdrawals of water from various lakes is damaging the wildlife living there particularly migratory birds;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, steps being taken to protect the same?

ANSWER

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Minister for Forest &Wildlife:

a)      Yes it is a fact that due to shortage of sweet water, the lakes are getting dry or getting saline water which is affecting wildlife, particularly the migratory birds.

b)      Regulation of water is with Irrigation Department. Sindh Wildlife Department remain in coordination with Irrigation Department for provision of sweet water in these lakes and wetlands during the migration of waterfowls from Siberia.  

*939.   Ms. Nusrat Sehar abbasi:     Will the Minister for Forest & Wildlife be pleased to state:-

(a) Is it a fact that the drip irrigation and solar pumps are being used by the Afforestation Divisions;

(b) If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the details thereof?

(c) Whether there is any plan for the extension of such programme to other areas of the province?

(d) If answer to (c) above be in the affirmative, the details thereof?

ANSWER

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Minister for Forest &Wildlife:

No drip irrigation system is being used by the Afforestation Division of Riverine & Inland Forest Department. However, 09 Solar tube-wells are being used in Afforestation Division, Shaheed Benazirabad.

The details of installed solar tube-wells in Afforestation Division, Shaheed Benazirabad is as follows:

Presently, no such plan is under consideration.

 Number of employees working in Wildlife/vacant posts in the department along with grade wise number of appointments made during last five years?

Number of Hog Deer found in river forest and survey conducted in this regard during last five years including steps taken for protection of said species?

ANSWER

1.      The estimated population of Hog Deers found in Riverine Forests in Sindh is 2000 Nos.

2.      As, regard steps taken for protection of specie concerned, Sindh Wildlife Department filed staff is available to monitor and patrolling at Hog Deer habited areas.

*1094. Mr. Omar Omari:     Will the Minister for Forest & Wildlife be pleased to state:-

District-wise total land of the Department exist in the province and land out of  same currently under encroachment along with steps being taken to remove encroachment?

ANSWER

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Minister for Forest &Wildlife:

Detail of district-wise total land of Riverine & Inland Forest Department exists in the province and land currently under encroachment is tabulated as under:

Ø  Riverine & Inland Forest Department initiated encroachment vacation drive and combating against encroachers with bare handed without any financial resources for removal of encroachment.

Ø  FIRs have been lodged against the encroachers of various forests.

Ø  Several meetings were held with concerned Public Vigilance Committees/District Judges and district administrations.

Ø  With all these efforts, so far 13,407.60 acres forestland has been got vacated from encroachers.

In order to afforest the vacated areas immediately, revised version of ongoing development scheme titled “Enhancing tree cover on state forestlands in Sindh” has been submitted to Administrative Department on 06.12.2018 for processing at PDWP forum.

 *1097. Mr. Omar Omari:     Will the Minister for Forest & Wildlife be pleased to state:-

 (a)   Is it a fact that quantity of migratory birds has been decreasing every year;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the reasons thereof?

ANSWER

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Minister for Forest &Wildlife:

 Yes, it is fact that the quantity of migratory birds has been decreased as compared to last (05) years, because of many lakes and water bodies in Sindh Province have gone dry due to scant rainfall. It resulted in disappearance of many migratory and resident of birds is decline.
