Provincial Assembly of Sindh in its sitting held on Tuesday, the 12th April, 2016 has unanimously passed the following Resolution moved by Ms. Nusrat Bano Seher Abbasi, MPA:-

“This Assembly resolves that Government to ensure timely provision of bags to the growers of Wheat in the Province. Despite different announcement of Government in this regard and opening up of wheat procurement centers, the growers are not getting the bags and are being forced to sell their wheat to the Government sponsored traders.”.

One Government Degree College at Ghora Bari, District Thatta has been established during the year 2011-12. No College is upgraded during the said period.

There are two boys and one girls College are functioning in District Thatta.

(a)   Is it a fact that 247 appointments made in colleges in Karachi against rules and merit have not been cancelled despite of passing one year and no action has been taken against any involved officer;

  (b)   If answer to (a) above is in affirmative, the reasons thereof?

ANSWER

MR. NISAR AHMED KHUHRO, Senior Minister for Education:

No, appointment was made from BPS-1 to BPS-15 after 31-12-2012 in Karachi Region. However, the new lecturers BPS-17 have been appointed through Sindh Public Service Commission in the Education & Literacy Department as reported by Regional Director & D.G Colleges, Sindh, Karachi.

 *2066. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Education be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that the department intends to make changes in the syllabus;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the details thereof?

 ANSWER

MR. NISAR AHMED KHUHRO, Senior Minister for Education:

Government of Sindh Education & Literacy Department has already started the process of review of National Curriculum 2006 in view of 18th Constitutional amendment. The textbooks are being reviewed as per following Terms of reference:

a)    To ensure the age relevance and student Friendliness of content.

b)    To ensure that content is free from anti-democratic elements.

c)    To ensure free from pro-extremism elements.

d)    Inclusion of Province specific contents, personalities, monuments and history etc.

e)    Inclusion of life-based skills and sportsmanship.

As part of the first phase, the textbooks have been reviewed from Grade I to VII and new textbooks have been published and distributed up to Grade VI. As part of next phase, textbooks from grade VII will be published next year while the review process will be undertaken for Grade VIII and onwards. All new textbooks are being developed around theme of encouraging critical thinking and creativity on part of our students, alongwith providing clear guideline to the teachers as new curriculum is based on students learning outcomes (SLOs).

Furthermore, the social studies curriculum for classes V to VII have been reviewed and notified as per the province’s vision post 18th amendment.
