(a)   How technical centers are upgraded and kept updated according to international standards?

(b)   Does any center fall under ISO-9000 standard of certification?

(a)      Technical Vocational Training Centers are upgraded either on the basis of need assessment of local labour market or under initiatives by the STEVTA Board/Government. Presently the Sindh TEVTA has affiliated its following 09 institution with city and guilds of UK, which is International Certification Organization and meet the International market/standards.

1.    Government College of Technology, SITE, Karachi.

2.    Government College of Technology for Girls Karimabad, Karachi.

3.    Pakistani Swedish Institute of Technology, Karachi.

4.    Government College of Technology, Hyderabad.

5.    Government College of Technology, Larkana.

6.    Petroleum Technical Training Institute, Khairpur.

7.    Government Polytechnic Institute, Mirpurkhas.

 For Quality Assurance following institutes of STEVTA have been accredited by NAVTTC as well.

 *2438. DR. SEEMA ZIA: Will the Minister for STEVTA be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that there is any plan to establish a new vocational center in this year;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the details thereof along with minimum age/ qualification for the enrollment of these centers?

 ANSWER

SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI, (Chief Minister) Minister for STEVTA:

(a)      Yes, there are plans to set up New Vocational Centers in this financial year.

(b)      Under directives of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Sindh, proposal for setting up Vocational Training Centers have been submitted to P&D Department under ADP. Details are as follows;

 1.    At Bangal Dero District Larkano.

2.    At Bhando Qubo, District Larkano.

3.    At Village Syed Noor Ali Shah Deh 373-A UC Roshanabad, Taluka Jhudo.

4.    At Piryalo, Taluka Kingri District Khairpur.

5.    At Village Dargah Khush Khair Muhammad Faqir District Khairpur.

6.    At Machur, Bhirya City District N.S. Feroze.

7.    At Village Haji Fateh Muhammad Rajar, UC K.S Atta Muhamamd Pali Taluka & District Umerkot.

8.    At Sajan Jo Par UC Peerani Jo Par, Taluka & District Tharparkar.

9.    At Imamabad Siyal N.S. Feroze.

 Minimum Age for enrollment

The Minimum age limit “15” years.

 Qualification for enrollment

The minimum educational qualification for admission vary from trade to trade starting from 5th class to the intermediate. But in majority cases it is Matriculation.

 *2835. MS. RANA ANSAR: Will the Minister for STEVTA be pleased to state:-

Number of vacant posts in STEVTA alongwith unified and non-unified grade lying vacant as well as the procedure of their recruitment and when the same are likely to be filled?

 ANSWER

SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI, (Chief Minister) Minister for STEVTA:

Over 500 posts are lying vacant in various institutes and recruitment will be made as per recruitment rules after transfer of funds to Sindh TEVTA by the Finance Department, Government of Sindh.

 *3199. MR. SHEIKH ABDULLAH: Will the Minister for STEVTA be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that two monotechnic institutes for girls and boys were approved in Surjani Town by the government which had to be transferred to STEVTA department;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, current status of the same and when the same are likely to get functional?

 ANSWER

SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI, (Chief Minister) Minister for STEVTA:

Yes, both institutions viz Monotechnic Institute (Boys) and (Girls) at Surjani Town were approved by the Sindh Government during 2008-2009. After establishment of Sindh Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) the proposed institutions were transferred from Education & Literacy Department to STEVTA through under Umbrella PC-I, which was approved by the PDWP in its meeting held on 03-03-2011.

·         After approval of revised Umbrella PC-I, the work at both sites could not start because of non release of funds up to 2012 and also schemes were prepared on old schedule of Rate 2004. The STEVTA has revised Umbrella PC-I at cost of Rs. 5497.314 (including both institutions) which was considered in the Planning & Development Department by the Technical Committee meeting held on 04-05-2015 and cleared for consideration by the PDWP forum with some modifications. The modified Umbrella PC-I is under preparation and would be forwarded shortly to the P&D Department for approval by the PDWP Forum.

·         Physical Status of works is at Annexure, placed on the table of the House.

·         The work at sites would be started as and when revised Umbrella PC-I is approved and appropriate funds are released by the Finance Department, Government of Sindh.

·         Both institutions would be completed by June, 2017 and may be functionalized by July, 2017, subject to availability of funds.

 *3345. MS. KHAIRUNISA MUGHAL: Will the Minister for STEVTA be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that polytechnical college, Mirpurkhas is in deplorable condition and roofs and boundary wall are near to fell down where 3500 children are enrolled;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, steps taken by the department to repair the same?

 ANSWER

SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI, (Chief Minister) Minister for STEVTA:

The building of GPI Mirpurkhas requires major repair and renovation work. The scheme was taken up in ADP 2015-16.

The scheme has been approved by PDWP Planning & Development Department Government of Sindh under ADP 2015-16.

The repair and renovation work will be carried out as soon as funds are released.
