*1460. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Public Health Engineering be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that water supply scheme of Kandhkot is out of order since last 15 years, filter plant has been occupied and approach of clean water for 1.5 lac population has become a huge problem;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the steps taken by the government in this regard?

 ANSWER

The matter does not pertain to Public Health Engineering Department. The said scheme is maintained by Municipal Committee Kandhkot.

Moreover, the Ultra Filtration Plant installed under CDWI Project is also maintained by MC Kandhkot.

At the moment PHE is preparing Improvement/Extension Water Supply Scheme Kandhkot which would be submitted to Government of Sindh for approval.

 *1784. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Public Health Engineering be pleased to state:-

District-wise number of men, women and children died due to contaminated polluted water during 01-01-2009 to 31-12-2012 along with any plan of government to provide hygienic water to people?

 ANSWER

SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI, (Chief Minister) Minister for Public Health Engineering:

The Public Health Engineering Department does not maintain statistical data regarding death casualties of persons due to use of contaminated/polluted water. Moreover, Health Department is in better position to explain about requisite data. However, this department is putting all available resources to provide safe drinking water to the people especially in the rural areas.

The Government of Sindh (PHED) planned to provide hygienic water to the people of the province through Ultra Filtration Plants, RO (Reverse Osmosis) plants and Conventional Filtration System are being installed under various development programmes.

Moreover, the safe drinking water is given significant importance in the future planning and many other plants are also in pipe line and shall be installed in due course of time.

At present 11 No. filter schemes are under construction. As soon as construction activities are completed schemes will be put in regular operation Commissioning of these schemes will assist in minimizing water borne diseases. The location of schemes under execution is at Annexure-I.

The Government of Sindh (PHED) has future planned to provide water treatment plants at various locations. PC-I and cost estimates of 15 schemes are under process of preparation and further process of approval by the competent forum under ADP 2014-15. The location of the schemes in pipe line is at Annexure-II.

Annexure-I and II, are placed on the table of the House.

 *3007. MR. KAMRAN AKHTAR: Will the Minister for Works & Services be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that stone crushing work is being carried out at Rohri Bypass;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, whether it is allowed by the competent authority?

 ANSWER

SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI, (Chief Minister) Minister for Works & Services:

(a)      Yes.

(b)      The stone crushing unit installed at Rohri Bypass road falls within the Jurisdiction of National Highway Authority. The Provincial Highway Department has not accorded permission to anyone.

 *3013. MR. KAMRAN AKHTAR: Will the Minister for Works & Services be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that Airport road, Sukkur was not repaired during 2010 to 2012;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is negative, number of times it has been repaired and expenditure incurred on it?

 ANSWER

Yes, airport road Sukkur was not repaired during 2010 to 2012.

 *3346. MS. KHAIRUNISA MUGHAL: Will the Minister for Public Health Engineering be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that there are no water supply lines in UC-6 of Mirpurkhas City;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, steps taken by the government so that pure drinking water may be provided to the citizens?

 ANSWER

SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI, (Chief Minister) Minister for Public Health Engineering:

(a)      The Public Health Engineering Department laid 80% Water Supply lines in UC-06 Mirpurkhas through different phases of Water Supply Schemes of Mirpurkhas City and the residents are being facilitated through Satellite Town and Revachand Garden Booster Pumping Stations.

For the remaining 20%, which are newly developed areas like as Ali Talpur Town, Ishtiaque Town, Nooriabad Town, Valkart Town, as such, there is no drinking water facility.

(b)      Recently, the Residents of above newly developed colonies approached to the District Government Mirpurkhas to provide Water Supply facility, however, the Public Health Engineering Department has taken immediate steps and submitted Feasibility Report to Assistant Director, Planning, District Government Mirpurkhas on 30-07-2015 (Annexure, placed on the table of the House.) As soon as, the approval is received, the inhabitants of remaining newly developed areas (20%) will be facilitated by providing drinking water after completing all codal formalities.
