Number of wine shops exist in Karachi along with the steps taken by the government to eradicate the same?

 ANSWER

MR. GAYAN CHAND ESSARANI, Minister for Excise & Taxation:

It is stated that Sixty Nine 69 licensed wine shops exists in the Karachi Division. All such licenses are granted under Article 17 of Prohibition (Enforcement of Hadd) Order, 1979 by the Government of Sindh.

However, as and when any violation of license condition is reported by the Regional Directors strict legal actions are initiated against the licensees in the form of suspension of licenses and imposition of penalty.

Presently total number of computerized registered vehicles in the province along with the number of vehicles issued motor-vehicle tax stickers?

 ANSWER

MR. GAYAN CHAND ESSARANI, Minister for Excise & Taxation:

(i)       Total 3,898,393 number of vehicle are registered as per computer DATABASE of the Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Department.

(ii)      From July, 2013 to May, 2014 upto 751567 vehicle have paid Motor Vehicle Tax as per computer record and accordingly tax token stickers were issued.
