SYED MURAD ALI SHAH, Minister for Finance:

Sindh Bank does not allow finance to grower for procurement of wheat; rather it provides finance to Food Department Government of Sindh for procurement of wheat under commodity operation.

(a)   Grade-wise number of persons recruited in the department during 2012-13;

(b)   Is it a fact that the above recruitments were made on merit;

(c)    If answer to (b) above is affirmative, the details thereof?

 ANSWER

SYED MURAD ALI SHAH, Minister for Finance:

(a)      Grade-wise number of persons recruited during the period 2012-13 is at Annexure, placed on the table of the House.

(b)      The recruitment was made purely on merit basis.

(c)      The following process was adopted while making appointments:-

Ø  The said posts were advertised through leading daily Sindhi, Urdu, and English newspapers i.e. Kawish, Dawn and Jang.

Ø  After short listing the application eligible candidates were advised to appear in written test in various test centers at divisional head quarters.

Ø  The candidates, who qualified the writing test, were called for appearing in interview to appear before Selection Committee for interview.

Ø  Selection Committee keeping in view their written tests and interviews recommended them for appointment, thus the entire process was culminated in transparent manner and on merit.

 *2204. MR. KHURRAM SHER ZAMAN: Will the Minister for Finance be pleased to state:-

Is it a fact that Sindh Bank is functioning under Sindh Government or any private organization is also involved in it?

 ANSWER

SYED MURAD ALI SHAH, Minister for Finance:

Sindh Bank is wholly owned by the Government of Sindh and no private organization is involved. The Bank is functioning as a scheduled commercial bank under the prudential rules/regulation prescribed by the State Bank of Pakistan being the central bank of the country.
