(a)      The details of employees against whom cases were registered during 2011 to 2013 are at Annexure-I, placed on the table of the House.

 *2246. MR. KHURRAM SHER ZAMAN: Will the Minister for Food be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that due to insufficient storage capacity the department hire private godowns for storage of wheat and sugar;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the reasons thereof?

ANSWER

MR. GAYAN CHAND ISRANI, Minister for Food:

(a)      The Food Department deals with the procurement of wheat, storage and releases to the Flour Mills/Chakkies as per government policy to stabilize the Atta prices for whole year and not concerned with Sugar. Due to rainy season on head, the Government decided to arrange private accommodation so that the newly procured wheat stock lying in open at katcha centres in interior Sindh, can be shifted to Karachi. For this purpose the department hired TCP Godowns after observing legal procedures to save the government stocks.

 *2973. MR. KAMRAN AKHTAR: Will the Minister for Food be pleased to state:-

(a)   The current negotiated mark-up rate (both weighted average and individually) being charged to the Food department by various banks for financing wheat procurement;

(b)   The mark-up rate charged every year since 2001 by various banks for financing wheat procurement;

(c)    The overdraft limit secured by the Food department for procuring wheat in 2010?

 ANSWER

MR. GAYAN CHAND ISRANI, Minister for Food:

(a)      The Food Department, annually procure wheat under “State Trading Scheme”. The wheat procured from Growers on the borrowed amount from Commercial Banks under Commodity Operation Financing. The Guarantee of borrowing amount is given by Ministry of Finance, Government of Pakistan called as “GOP Guarantee”.

As usual invitation of offer for the lowest markup rate for the following period was floated in press. Approved markup rate charged by the Commercial Banks during the period            01-10-2014 to 31-12-2014 was as under:

District-wise target for wheat procurement during 2010 along with district-wise location of procurement centers as well as procurement price of wheat during 2010 including actual procurement achieved as on June 30, 2010?

 ANSWER

MR. GAYAN CHAND ISRANI, Minister for Food:

(a)      District wise target and achievement of wheat are at Annexure-I, placed on the table of the House.

(b)      District wise list of Wheat Procurement Centers is at Annexure-II, placed on the table of the House.

(c)      The Government procured wheat @ Rs. 950 per 40 kgs during Crop-2010.
