*1778. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Wildlife be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that too much hunting of partridge causes rapid genocide of it;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the steps taken in this regard?

 ANSWER

MR. GAYAN CHAND, Minister for Wildlife:

Partridge is a well known game bird across the world. It increases rapidly in nature. In Sindh it’s hunting has a code of conduct i.e. 10 Partridge/day/License for Sunday only during hunting season.

 *2006. MS. KHAIRUNISA MUGHAL: Will the Minister for Wildlife be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that a large number of hawks have been imported from foreign countries during 2012-13;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the details thereof including the names of such countries?

 ANSWER

MR. GAYAN CHAND, Minister for Wildlife:

Total 518 Falcons were imported to Pakistan during 2012-13 by different Arab dignitaries for hunting of Houbara Bustards. The details of falcons imported from foreign countries during 2012-13 are as follow:

(a)   Is it a fact that federal government is issuing permits for hunting the game in the province despite wildlife being a provincial subject;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the reasons thereof?

 ANSWER

MR. GAYAN CHAND, Minister for Wildlife:

(a)      Yes.

Federal Government issues permissions in case of Houbara Falconry.

(b)      Such permission are given in accordance with the decision of the implementation commission published in the Gazzette of Pakistan (extraordinary) dated 29th June, 2011.

 *2934. MR. SHIRAZ WAHEED: Will the Minister for Wildlife be pleased to state:-

The number of “Certificates of Lawful Possession” granted during the period January 1, 2013 till December 31, 2013 in respect of Live and Trophy/Skin of Sindh Ibex, Markhur and Urial?

 ANSWER

MR. GAYAN CHAND, Minister for Wildlife:

No any certificate of lawful possession has been given from 1st January, 2013 to 31st December, 2013 for live Ibex and Urial or their trophy/skin.
