“This Assembly is of the opinion that Government of Sindh approach the Federal Government to re-schedule load shedding of electricity in all over the Sindh. It has come to our knowledge that Water and Power Ministry officially announced 22 hours load shedding in rural areas of Sindh Province. It is injustice with the people and this matter of survival because agricultural as well as industrial system and other over all business is being destroyed, so the electricity be provided to rural and urban areas of Sindh as per requirement to save economy and life of the people.”

*527. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Public Health Engineering be pleased to state:-

District-wise number of water supply schemes allocated during 2008 to 2012 and number of schemes out of above completed?

 ANSWER

MR. SHARJEEL INAM MEMON, Minister for Public Health Engineering:

The District-wise number of water supply scheme allocated during 2008 to 2012 of PHE Department is at Annexure, placed on the table of the House.

  *583. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Public Health Engineering be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that there is crises of drinking water and unhygienic water is being supplied in Sukkur and Rural Sindh resulting deadly disease are spreading rapidly;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the steps taken by the government to supply clean water there?

 ANSWER

MR. SHARJEEL INAM MEMON, Minister for Public Health Engineering:

(a)   The Urban Water Supply Scheme Sukkur is being maintained by North Sindh Urban Services Corporation (NASUSC).

(b)   In the Rural areas of District Sukkur, there is no crises of water and no un-hygienic water is being supplied to people. The detailed list of functional Water Supply Schemes is at Annexure, placed on the table of the House.

However, some schemes are non functional as they have completed their design period & needs major repair/extension. In this regard an amount of Rs. 1.00 billion have been allocated in the Budget during 2013-14 for Rehabilitation of non-functional Schemes. The work will be started shortly after completing codal formalities.

 *813. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Public Health Engineering be pleased to state:-

Number of water filter plants installed in district Hyderabad and out of them number of plants which are functional along with the steps taken by the government in this regard?

 ANSWER

MR. SHARJEEL INAM MEMON, Minister for Public Health Engineering:

It is submitted that under Clean Drinking Water For All (CDWA) Project, 30 Ultra Filtration plants were installed in District Hyderabad. At present 19 plants are functional and rest    11 Nos. are non-functional due to shortage of operation and maintenance funds. List of plants showing their locations, union council, capacity and population served is provided at Annexure-I, placed on the table of the House.

Supplementary documents showing salient feature of CDWA Project is provided at Annexure-II, placed on the table of the House.

 *1299. MS. NAILA MUNIR: Will the Minister for Information be pleased to state:-

Amount paid of advertisements given to electronic media (radio, T.V channels) during April, 2008 to date?

  ANSWER

MR. SHARJEEL INAM MEMON, Minister for Information:

The Information Department has started to give advertisements to electronic media (TV Channels) from 2012. Therefore, no amount was paid to electronic media for advertisements from 2008 to 2011.

The amount paid to the electronic media from 2012 to 2014 is as under;

2012-13

Rs. 57,981,905

2013-14

Rs. 30,145,392

 *1304. MS. NAILA MUNIR: Will the Minister for Information be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that the financial organizations of country treat the journalists as of negative profession so they do not have the facility to get credit from the bank;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the efforts taken by the government to resolve above situation?

 ANSWER

MR. SHARJEEL INAM MEMON, Minister for Information:

The Financial Institutions of the country are regulated by the State Bank of Pakistan under the Ministry of Finance, Government of Pakistan.

The credit facilities, however are extended/provided as per the set criteria of Bank for the credit facilities, irrespective of the profession.
