World Polio Day being observed around the World, provide an oppurtunity to join the Polio eradication community to renew our promises of a Polio free world. It is moral and religious obligation on parents and community that all children upto 5 years of age receive Polio drops every time these are offered. We have to save our children from crippled future. I have this oppurtunity to pay tribute to our “Polio Heroes” the people who rendered their lives and embraced shahdat for the noble cause of Polio eradication.”

*10. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Public Health Engineering be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that water supply and drainage schemes are either closed or extremely in deplorable condition due to improper maintenance in all talukas of district Khairpur;
(b) If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the details thereof alongwith the measures taken in this regard?
ANSWER
SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI, (Chief Minister) Minister for Public Health Engineering:
(a) The Urban Water Supply & Drainage Schemes of all Talukas of District Khairpur are being maintained by concerned Local councils and are functional but only Khairpur City is being maintained by NSUSC which is also functional.
(b) The major Water Supply & Drainage Schemes in rural areas are functional. However, some schemes are non functional for various reasons and needs major repair/extension (the list functional and non-functional schemes is at Annexure, placed on the table of the House). In this regard an amount of Rs. 1.00 billion have been allocated in the Budget during 2013-14 for Rehabilitation of Non-functional Schemes. The work will be started shortly after completing codal formalities.
*380. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Public Health Engineering be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that a scheme “Urban Drainage Scheme” worth 58 crore rupees was approved in district Dadu but the same has not been completed;
(b) If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the reasons thereof along with the present status of the same?
ANSWER
SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI, (Chief Minister) Minister for Public Health Engineering:
(a) The Improvement/extension of Urban Drainage Scheme Dadu City costing Rs. 589.7 (M) was approved during the year 2008-2009 and it was to be completed in 2011. Due to insufficient and slow release of funds it has not yet been completed.
(b) The major components of the scheme are not completed as yet due to slow and insufficient funding.

The various Programme Water Filter Plants were installed in District Khairpur by Public Health Engineering Department in Sindh during 2009 to 2013.
(1) The details proposed, Ultra Filtration Plants in District Khairpur during the period under Clean Drinking Water for all Project (Packet-5) is at Annexure-I.
(2) The details of Reverse Osmosis Plants Installed in District Khairpur during the period under Clean Drinking Water for all Project (Packet-78) is at Annexure-II.
(3) The details of Reverse Osmosis Plants Installed in district Khairpur during the period under Rain Emergency Programme 2011 is at Annexure-III.
