(a)   Is it a fact that the work of farming of fish/prawn is continue in coastal highways Thatta and Badin;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the details thereof?

ANSWER

(a)      Yes.

*1422. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Fisheries be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that the jobs have been provided in the department during 01-01-2010 to 31-08-2013;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the district and grade-wise details thereof including the criteria followed for the same?

ANSWER

(a)      Yes.

(b)      District and scale wise detail of jobs provided by the department including criteria is at Annexure, placed on the table of the House.

*1916. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Fisheries be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that owners of vessels anchored their launches in Karachi Harbor Channel are paying Rs.70 a day as berthing charge to Karachi Fisheries Authority;

(b)   Is it also fact that owners are also paying various amounts for the protection of their property in the vessels;

(c)    If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the amount is to be paid by owners?

ANSWER

JAM KHAN SHORO, Minister for Fisheries:

(a)      According to Control & Management Rule 1991, the berthing charges for the fishing vessels are as under:

HORAS AND DHONDAS

1^st to 15^th day             Free of charge.

16^th to 30^th day           Rs. 25/- per day.

31^st to 60^th day           Rs. 50/- per day.

After 60 days the boat will be removed on the risk and cost of Owner.

GILLNET/TRAWLERS

1^st to 30^th day             Free of charge.

31^st to 60^th day           Rs. 50/- per day.

61^st to 90^th day           Rs. 100/- per day.

After 90 days the boat will be removed on the risk and cost of Owner.

CARGO VESSELS CARRYING FROZEN SEAFOOD

i.       Rs. 3,000/- per boat per trip (Port Charges).

ii.     1^st to 10^th day       Free of charge.

iii.    11^th to 30^th day     Rs. 100/- per day.

iv.    31^st to 60^th day     Rs. 500 per day.

v.      61^st to 90^th day     Rs. 1000/- per day.

(a)   Is it a fact that a number of badly damage fishing vessels have been brought for repair from Gawadar to Karachi;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, whether such vessels were damaged by the pet cyclone along with measure taken by the harbor officials to help the affected boats?
