ANSWER
MR. GAYAN CHAND, Minister for Forest:
(a) No, it is not a fact that LBOD and RBOD have any effect on the decaying of mangrove forests. Basically RBOD and LBOD have been aimed at draining sub-surface and storm water to creek system and their existence has no direct affect on mangrove as the mangrove stands do not exist in the direct spillage of LBOD and RBOD and their location is away from the estuaries.
