MUHAMMAD SHAHARYAR KHAN MAHAR, MPA/ LEADER OF OPPOSITION, PROVINCIAL ASSEMBLY OF SINDH: The Honourable Minister for Home, Sindh may please to give answer/ statement that in wake of the recent Police brutality against the peaceful protestors outside Bilawal House, who were demanding the recognition of their jobs given to them by the present government. The department has been giving different statements regarding the authenticity of their jobs. The Minister may please clarify this situation by giving a reply to resolve this issue.

 

2.    CALL ATTENTION NOTICE NO. 144 OF 2014;GIVEN NOTICE OF BY MR. KAMRAN AKHTER, MPA: The Honourable Minister for Local Government, Sindh may please to give answer / statement that infrastructure of Karachi is deteriorated, there are heaves of garbage, public is deprived from basic facilities so Government should announce to hold Local   Bodies Election immediately?

 

3.    CALL ATTENTION NOTICE NO. 147 OF 2014;GIVEN NOTICE OF BY MS. HEER SOHO, MPA: The Honourable Minister for Finance, Sindh may please to give answer/ statement that why Petroleum Companies don’t abide by the Petroleum Consortium Agreement?

 

4.    CALL ATTENTION NOTICE NO. 148 OF 2014;GIVEN NOTICE OF BY MS. SUMETA AFZAL SYED, MPA: The Honourable Senior Minister for Education & Literacy, Sindh may please to give answer/ statement that it is claimed that 35, 000 Teachers have been trained in collaboration with Canadian International Developer Agency (CIDA). However, officials claim that there was massive corruption of the same that deserving teachers didn’t receive such training and teachers who were recorded in the files as beneficiaries of the training who also have received Travel, Lodging and Food allowances. They say that they were never approached by the officials for any training.

Functions and number of manpower institutes in Sindh and number of students studying therein?

ANSWER

SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI, (Chief Minister) Minister for STEVTA:-

Prior to establishment/creation of Sindh Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority, in the year 2009-10. There were 38 Technical Training Centers (Boys & Girls) functioning under the administrative control of Directorate of Manpower & Training.

The details of 38 Institutes of Manpower plus 16 institutes shifted from Social Welfare (now renamed as Vocational Training Institutes/Centers) with Trades and number of trainees under training is given at Annexure, placed on the table of the House.

Presently, there are following type of institutions (Boys & Girls) are functioning under the administrative control of Sindh Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority.

(i)       Government Colleges of Technology.

(ii)      Government Polytechnic Institutes.

(iii)    Government Monotechnic Institutes.

(iv)     Government Institutes of Business & Commercial Education.

(v)      Government Vocational Institutes.

(vi)     Government Vocational School.

(vii)   Vocational Training Institutes.

(viii) Vocational Training Centers.

 Function

The function of these Institutions is to impart Vocational Training to youth to produce technically trained semi skilled and skilled workers for better employment opportunities on one hand and skilled workforce to industry on the other.

 *1812. DR. ARSHAD ABDULLAH VOHRA: Will the Minister for STEVTA be pleased to state:-

Area-wise number of technical/vocational institutes and the courses offered in them along with their policies and preferences for labours in the province?

 ANSWER

There are 209 Technical/Vocational Institutes (Boys & Girls) functioning in the Province of Sindh. Area wise number of Technical/Vocational Institutes & the courses offered therein is at Annexure, placed on the table of the House.

Basic function of these institutes is to impart Technical & Vocational Training to youth (Boys & Girls) for improving employability on one hand and provide skilled workforce to Industry on the other.

These courses/training programs are developed in accordance with needs of local Labour market/industry and the anticipated future requirements.

 *1936. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Sports be pleased to state:-

Steps being taken for financial assistance to heroes in the field of sports suffering from diseases/expired?

 ANSWER

SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI, (Chief Minister) Minister for Sports:-

Before the 18th Constitutional amendment, Provincial Sports Department use to forward cases of deserving Sportsmen and families deceased Sports Persons to Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) which used to give stipend to the needy Sportsmen and their families. However, after the said amendments, PBS discontinued the practice. As the Sports Department does not have funds to provide assistance to needy Sportsmen. “Summary for Chief Minister Sindh” has been floated for creation of revolving fund for grant of financial assistance for deserving Sportsmen and their families. Annexure, placed on the table of the House.

 *1937. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Sports be pleased to state:-

Details of grant-in-aid provided to the sports associations of the province from July 2009 till to date?

ANSWER

Grant in aid provided to the Sports association of the province w.e.f July, 2009 to June, 2010, Annexure, placed on the table of the House.
