The situation of my Constituency PS-101, North Nazimabad is badly affected by Street Crimes where snatching of valuables has become a routine.

Summary of Proceedings
Provincial Assembly of Sindh in its sitting held on Friday, the 25th April, 2014 has unanimously passed the following Resolution moved by Mr. Khurrum Sher Zaman, MPA:- 

“This Assembly condemns the objectionable statement of Geo News which defamed our National Security Agency with false accusation without proof on ISI Chief which is a irresponsible act of Geo News. Our prestigious defence institute (ISI) has always been pride for us.”

LIST OF STARRED ASSEMBLY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOR

FRIDAY THE 25TH APRIL, 2014.

 

*300. MS. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Food be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that flour mills of the province third time increased 75 rupees on 50 kg bag of flour during May, 2013 and despite the clear directions of department, DCOs failed to control the rate;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in affirmative, the reasons thereof?

 ANSWER

JAM MEHTAB HUSSAIN DAHAR, Minister for Food:

(a)      The Food Department stops the releases of wheat to the flour mills by the end of March when new crop comes in the market. The Flour Mills purchase wheat from open market during April to August every year.

During crop year, 2013, the Government increased the Support Price of wheat from            Rs. 1050/40 Kg to Rs. 1200/-40 Kg i.e. Rs. 3000/100 kg. The impact of such increase in support price affected the market prices which were increased proportionately. However, the District Administration is responsible to control the retail prices under the relevant laws.

(b)      Reasons explained above.

 *593. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Food be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that we have no system of cold storage of eatable things such as fruits and vegetables for longer period as compared to other countries;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the effective measures to be taken by the government in this regard?

 ANSWER

JAM MEHTAB HUSSAIN DAHAR, Minister for Food:

(a)   The reply is in negative. The Food Department deals with the procurement of wheat, storage and releases to the Flour Mills/Chakkies as per Government Policy to stabilize the atta prices for whole year.

(b)   Does not arise.

 *1001. MS. HEER SOHO: Will the Minister for Food be pleased to state:-

Location-wise number of quality testing laboratories exist in the province?

 ANSWER

JAM MEHTAB HUSSAIN DAHAR, Minister for Food:

Only one wheat quality testing laboratory constructed in Karachi, namely “Wheat Quality Testing Laboratory” is constructed under ADP Scheme No. 42 at Grain Godown Landhi Karachi and completed in June, 2011 at the cost of Rs. 41.586 million.

 *1002. MS. HEER SOHO: Will the Minister for Food be pleased to state:-

Number of new godowns constructed in the province during 2008 to 2013 upto June,     along-with the capacity to store grain therein?

 ANSWER

JAM MEHTAB HUSSAIN DAHAR, Minister for Food:

Since the year 2008 to June 2013, no any new godown has been constructed in the province.

 *1146. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Food be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that the flour mills of the province were not provided grain under Ramadan package and the flour was sold at Rs.40 per kg;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the reasons thereof?

 ANSWER

JAM MEHTAB HUSSAIN DAHAR, Minister for Food:

(a)      It is a fact that the Sindh Government did not allow wheat under Ramdan package during the year 2013. The Flour Mills were purchasing wheat from open market. The Food Department started releasing of wheat in the last week of August, 2013.
