RESOLUTION MOVED BY MR. SHARJEEL INAM MEMON, MINISTER FOR INFORMATION, SINDH.

This House strongly condemns the brutal and cowardly attack on renowned journalist HAMID MIR and profoundly appreciates his services towards Journalism and Democracy. This House also prays for his early recovery.

RESOLUTION MOVED BY SYED SARDAR AHMED, MPA.

It is universally accepted that the Fourth Estate, comprising, Print, Electronic and Social Media, exercises immense Political and Social Power in shaping the will of the people and influencing the outcome of votes all over the World. The Constitution of Pakistan too guarantees its citizens freedom of speech and expression and freedom to the Press.

Unfortunately, a ghastly attempt to kill Hamid Mir a renowned journalist and anchorperson, on 19th April in broad day light, on a busy road, has not only posed a serious threat to the freedom of expression and press, but also jeopardizes the sustenance of Parliamentary Democracy. This house thus condemns the dastardly attack on HAMID MIR who is struggling for his life in a private hospital; demands immediate arrest of the culprits and prays for his early recovery.

(a)   Is it a fact that planning has been made to establish women hostels in 23 districts of the province;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the amount to be incurred along with the date of its starting/completion?

 ANSWER

MS. RUBINA QAIMKHANI, Minister for Women Development:

There is no such planning for establishment of women hostels in 23 Districts by Women Development Department.

(a)   Is it a fact that a program to establish two Ladies Civic Centers was continue in               ADP 2012-13;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the present position of the same?

 ANSWER

MS. RUBINA QAIMKHANI, Minister for Women Development:

Yes, the program to establish two Ladies Civic Centres was part of the ADP 2012-13.         An amount of Rs. 52.755 million.

This Department moved the Deputy Commissioner, Larkana for identification of land. Mukhtiarkar under the orders of the D.C identified the land, located adjacent to Naudero Rest House main road. Women Development Department intended to move a summary for Chief Minister Sindh for approval for the allotment, but in the meantime Honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan, imposed a ban on transfer/grant of Government land for what so ever purpose. Since, then the matter is pending.

 *1596. MS. HEER SOHO: Will the Minister for Women Development be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that women development complexes are being constructed in Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, and Larkana;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the details thereof?

 ANSWER

MS. RUBINA QAIMKHANI, Minister for Women Development:

Yes, the ADP scheme “Establishment of women development complex at Sukkur” was approved at a cost of Rs. 210.30 million. The Finance Department issued Administrative Approval amounting to Rs. 210.3 million duly authenticated dated 28th February, 2012 wherein Capital Cost was Rs. 189.21 million and Revenue Rs. 21.089 million for the year 2011-12 and 2012-13.

A committee has been constituted for procurement of land as per PC-I of the Project under competitive process in compliance of SPRA rules vide Notification dated 20-02-2014. There are no schemes of Women Complex at Mirpurkhas and Larkana.
