“This Assembly resolves to observe Earth Hour on last Saturday of March every year and reiterates its commitment to celebrate World Environment Days, World Wetlands Day, World Forest Day, World Water Day, Earth Day, World Migratory Bird Day, International Day for Biological Diversity, World Turtle Day, World Ocean Day, UN Day to combat Desertification and Drought, World Nature Conservation Day, International Vulture Awareness Day, World Maritime Day, World Habitat Day, International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction, International Day for Rural Women, International Day for Climate Action, World Fisheries Day, World Energy Conservation Day to which Pakistan is signatory.”

Sukkur is purely a cotton growing district, where like other cotton growing districts of Left Bank of Indus River, cultivation of paddy crop has been banned officially by the local district administration. Accordingly no targets have been assigned in the left bank districts of River Indus. However some growers are sowing paddy at their own will.

(a) Is it a fact that mangoes exhibition is held at Mirpurkhas;
(b) If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the varieties of mangoes there along with the purpose of the same?
ANSWER
MR. ALI NAWAZ KHAN MAHAR, Minister for Agriculture:
(a) Yes, Mango exhibition held at Mirpurkhas every year since 1965. This year it was 48th event.
(b) There are 140 varieties available at Sindh Horticulture Research Institute Mirpurkhas. However, 15 varieties are commercial. These are Zafran, Almas, Siroli, Dusehri, Sindhri, Ghulab Khas, Chausa, Neelam, Anwer Ratol, Salih Bhai, Began Pali, Calector and Anmol.
