*199. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Culture be pleased to state:-
Detail and number of cultural shows and exhibitions sponsored by the department during 2009 to 2013?
ANSWER
SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI, (Chief Minister), Minister for Culture:
Culture Department organized & sponsored 452 programmes during the year 2009 to 2013. The detail of programs is given at Annexure, placed on the table of the House. In addition, the Culture Department participated in various shows, festival TV channels, NGOs and other organizations.
*202. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Tourism be pleased to state:-
The list of Historical/Protected monuments in the province being maintained/looked after by the Sindh Government?
ANSWER
SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI, (Chief Minister), Minister for Tourism:
129 Archaeological Site and Historical Monuments protected under the Antiquities Act, 1975 which were devolved to Sindh Government in consequences of 18th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2011 are being maintained/looked after by the Sindh Government. The list of the same is at Annexure, placed on the table of the House.
*369. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Culture be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that the material of crores for tubewell scheme to eradicate water logging from archeological sites of Mohen-jo-Daro is lying under open sky and deteriorating since many years;
(b) If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the reasons thereof along with the steps taken by the government in this regard?
ANSWER
SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI, (Chief Minister), Minister for Culture:
(a)&(b)No, it is not correct. The Tube-Well Scheme of Mohenjo-Daro was abandoned in 1997; the scrape of the scheme was auctioned by the Culture Department in 2012 in accordance with the decision of Executive Board, National Fund\for Mohenjo-Daro. At present there is no such material lying at the site.
*389. MS. NAHEED BEGUM: Will the Minister for Culture be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that curve has come to the Minaret of Masoom Shah during last many years and as it is situated at thickly populated area so there is probability of falling of the same which may cause human and financial loss;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the steps taken to secure the same as it is a cultural heritage?
ANSWER
SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI, (Chief Minister), Minister for Culture:
(a) It is not correct that the curve has come to Minaret of Mir Masoom Shah. The same tilt was pointed out by historians might have been caused due to flaw in the construction or earthquake which jolted Sindh in 1828.
(b) Although, Minaret of Mir Masoom Shah is a Protected Monument under the Antiquities Act, 1975, it is under the administrative control of Auqaf Department, the maintenance also lies with said Department. The Culture, Tourism & Antiquities Department is ready to provide technical Assistance for its conservation, protection and preservation if desired by it.
