(a)   Is it a fact that any programmes have been placed by the government for the betterment of flood affectees of coastal areas of Karachi, Thatta and Badin;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the details thereof?

ANSWER

SYED QAIM ALI SHAH JILLANI, (Chief Minister), Minister for Planning & Development:

(a)      It is a fact that Government of Sindh has placed a development programme for the improvement of major fishermen settlements and betterment of flood affectees coastal areas of Thatta & Badin Districts through ADP. The title of the scheme is “Improvement of Major Fishermen’s Settlements and Rehabilitation of Flood Affected Areas in Coastal Areas of Thatta and Badin” reflected in ADP 2013-14 (ADP # 1279).

It is clarified that as per SCDA’s Act-1994 the jurisdiction of SCDA spans over coastal areas of Thatta & Badin Districts. Karachi is not included in the jurisdiction of SCDA.

 The overall goal of the project is to rehabilitate the disaster affected and to develop/improve the major fishermen settlement of coastal areas of Thatta & Badin Districts through provision of basic civic, socio-economic and inter sectoral facilities so as to provide better public health and livelihood opportunities. The inputs of the project will provide improved social, economic, biological and livelihood aspects of people residing in major fishermen settlements and disaster affected coastal areas where the poverty level is increasingly high and the available natural resources are degrading/ depleting with the passage of time. Major fishermen settlements as well as other settlements situated in the coastal areas of Thatta and Badin Districts are the most affected areas resulted from frequent natural calamities along the coastal belt.

(a)      It is clarified that Sindh Coastal Development Authority was established through an Act during 1994 by Sindh Assembly for overall development, improvement and beautification of the Coastal Areas of Thatta & Badin Districts.

There are three development schemes reflected in ADP 2013-14. The details are as under:-

Note: As the jurisdiction of Sindh Coastal Development Authority span on Coastal areas of Thatta & Badin, as such, the location of the aforementioned three schemes is the eight coastal talukas of Thatta & Badin Districts (Six Talukas of Thatta District- Mirpur Sakro, Ghorabari, Keti Bunder, Kharochan, Shah Bunder & Jati and 02 talukas of Badin District-Badin and S.F. Rahu).

 *522. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Auqaf be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that rain water trickled from dome inside the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar and people protested on it even budget is allocated every year but no development work was done there;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the amount earmarked for dargah during 2008 to 2012 along with the work so far carried-out?

 ANSWER

DOST ALI RAHIMO, Minister for Auqaf:

(a)      Yes, the rain water was trickled in June, 2013. The Department took notice and called explanation. It was explained by the Project Director, DHLSQ that the rain water was being poured from unsealed windows, he further explained that the windows have been now closed and sealed.

(b)      The details of amount earmarked for development schemes carried out during 2008-2012 is at Annexure, placed on the table of the House.

 *726. MS. NAHEED BEGUM: Will the Minister for Auqaf be pleased to state:-

Facilities being provided to the devotees at the Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar by the Auqaf department?

ANSWER

DOST ALI RAHIMO, Minister for Auqaf:

The following facilities are being provided to the devotees at the time of annual urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalander by the Auqaf Department:-

 (i)           Clean drinking water.

(ii)          Ladies & gents musafir khana.

(iii)        Ladies & gents lavatory blocks.

(iv)         Medical camps and free ambulance services.

(v)          Illumination dargah.

(vi)         Ladies & gents ablution arrangements.

(vii)       Distribution of langar.

(viii)     Distribution of cloths amongst widows and orphans.

(ix)         100 KV stand by generator.

(x)          Round the clock sanitary workers.

(xi)         Security arrangements in the Dargah.
