Provincial Assembly of Sindh in its sitting held on 9th September, 2013 has unanimously passed the following Resolution:
"This Assembly resolves to pay tribute to former President Asif Ali Zardari Sahib on completion of his five year term in office, his outstanding services for the cause of strengthening democracy, solidifying the federation, promoting political reconciliation and harmony, his unfettered support for restoring the 1973 Constitution and transferring powers back to the Parliament."
"On the eve of International Literacy Day i.e. 8th September, 2013, this House reaffirms their commitment and support to provide Education and Literacy to all segment of the society irrespective of their cast, creed, religion, genders or ages at least at the basic level."

The reply is in negative.
It is submitted that wheat was not issued/released by the Sindh Food Department for export purpose during the period from 1st October, 2011 till September, 2012.

*294. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Food be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that due to non-issuance of letter to grain procurement center in Khairpur during April, 2013 there was a threat of loss of wheat of million rupees, neither DFC procurement center incharge was provided bardana nor authority letters were issued;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the reasons thereof?
ANSWER
JAM MEHTAB HUSSAIN DAHAR, Minister for Food:
(a) It is not correct. The factual position is that bardana was sent to districts well in advance. The jute mills delivered the bardana in District Khairpur upto 08-04-2012 and the than DFC Khairpur issued bardana to the Centre Incharges from 08-04-2013 which was subsequently issued to the growers through a committee constituted by the Department vide letter No. SO(W)7(20)/2013 dated 03-04-2013. The respective Deputy Commissioner was the convener of the committee with members District Food Controller (concerned), two representative of Chamber of Agriculture and two representative of Sindh Abadgar Board of the respective district.
(b) Does not arise.

(a) Is it a fact that grain procurement could not be made at Kingri, Pir jo Goth, Ahmed Pur, Tando Masti, Hadal Shah and other centers during April, 2013;
(b) If answer to (a) above be in affirmative, the reasons thereof?
ANSWER

It is not correct. The factual position is that the Department opened/declared 402 Wheat Procurement Centers in all the province well in advance vide letter No. SO(W)7(20)/2013 dated 25-03-2013 including District Khairpur/Taluka Kingri. The factual position regarding wheat procurement during April, 2013 in Pirjo Goth/Ahmedpur/Tando Masti/Hadal Shah is as under:-

(a) Is it a fact that traders of Punjab procured rice from Sindh a large scale during January, 2013 resulting the price of rice became very high in the province;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the reasons thereof?
ANSWER
JAM MEHTAB HUSSAIN DAHAR, Minister for Food:
The reply is in negative. The Food Department deals with the procurement of wheat, storage and releases to the Flour Mills/Chakkies as per Government policy to stabilize the atta prices for the whole year. The paddy/rice is not delt by the Food Department.
