Number of skills being taught to prisoners in Sukkur jail along with number of teaching staff posted therein?
ANSWER
MR. ZIA-UL-HASSAN LANJAR, Minister for Prisons:
Six skills are being taught to the prisoners in Central Prison Sukkur i.e. tailoring, plumber, Potter Demonstrator, Electrician, Religious teaching and Barber. Details of prisoners learning different skills is as under: (01-01-2011 till to date)

(a) Is it a fact that there exist school in Sukkur Jail;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, number of teachers posted there and up to which class the education is provided?
ANSWER
MR. ZIA-UL-HASAN LANJAR, Minister for Prisons:
(a) Yes.
(b) 3 Primary teachers and 1 religious teacher are performing their duties in school, where primary education and religious education is provided to inmates of Central Prison Sukkur.

Name of prisons in Sindh which have been declared sensitive?
ANSWER
MR. ZIA-UL-HASAN LANJAR, Minister for Prisons:
After attack at Central Prison Bannu on 15-04-2012 by terrorists, the security of Sindh Prisons was examined by committee comprising Inspector General of Police Sindh, officers of law enforcement agencies and the Inspector General of Prisons Sindh in a meeting held on 26-04-2012, wherein Central Prison Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur were declared “sensitive”.
Copy of decision of meeting is at Annexure, placed on the Table of the House.

Measures taken or proposed by the department to improve the prosecution services in the province?
ANSWER
MR. ZIA-UL-HASAN LANJAR, Minister for Law:
The Criminal Prosecution Department was established in 2007 under Sindh Criminal Prosecution Services (Constitution, Functions and Powers) Ordinance, 2007, it was under the administrative control of an independent Secretary of the Prosecution Service and thereafter the approval of the Hon’ble Chief Minister Sindh, the Criminal Prosecution Service was placed under the control of Law Department and the Criminal Prosecution Service was declared an attached department, thereafter Sindh Criminal Prosecution Act, 2009 was passed by the Sindh Assembly.
That due to establishment of new courts including Anti-Terrorism and other Special Courts there become acute shortage of Prosecutors, therefore, 258 posts of Prosecutors have been got created in the year 2016 including 170 posts of Assistant Prosecutors General (BPS-17) for the Special Courts in the province and recently on the recommendation of Sindh Public Service commission, 76 Assistant Prosecutor General have been appointed and posted in the Special Courts including Anti-Terrorism Courts. Besides, the process for recruitment of 143 Assistant District Public Prosecutors (BPS-17), 1 District Public Prosecutor (BPS-19), 13 Additional Prosecutors General (BPS-19), 12 Deputy Prosecutors General are under process in the Commission, which will be completed very soon.
That recently 4 Deputy Prosecutors General (BPS-18) have been promoted to the post of Additional Prosecutor General (BPS-19) and 11 Assistant Prosecutor General (BPS-17) have been promoted as Deputy Prosecutors General (BPS-18). Besides, 15 Senior Deputy District Public Prosecutors (BPS-18) have been promoted as District Public Prosecutors (BPS-19).
That all the Prosecutors are being provided local as well as foreign training in coordination with U.S.A under the U.S Aid Program, G.I.Z and other organizations and about 280 Prosecutors including female members have so far been provided local and foreign trainings which have improved and enhanced their skills.
Moreover, recently MoU has been signed between Prosecutor General Sindh and Director General, Sindh Judicial Academy, Karachi, whereby it has been agreed that the Sindh Judicial Academy shall provide necessary trainings to the newly recruited Prosecutors.
Most of the office of the District Public Prosecutors and camp offices in the Hon’ble High Court of Sindh at Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana as well as Prosecutors posted in Special Courts have been provided new office furniture and other office equipments.
The office accommodation of the offices of District Public Prosecutors and other Prosecutors and staff posted in District and Special Courts, specially for the offices of District Public Prosecutors at Karachi is a very big problem.
Further the District Public Prosecutor Complex for Jamshoro @ Kotri has been completed and handed over, similarly all the District Public Prosecutors in the interior have been requested to take all necessary efforts for completing the construction of their offices on urgent basis.
