*3387. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Women Development be pleased to state:-

Steps taken by the department for more participation of women in cottage industries?

 ANSWER

SYED MURAD ALI SHAH (Chief Minister), Minister for Women Development:

The Women Development Department had established Sales and Display Center under the ADP during 2005-06. The scheme aims at socio economic development of skilled women of economically backward areas of Sindh by promoting and encouraging their skills and by providing them direct access to the market without being exploited by middle man, besides bringing their skills at par with emerging trends in national and international markets. The scheme was completed on 30th June 2015. The scheme is in Finance Department for its transfer from development to non-development budget.

At present two new ADPs are introduced in the financial year 2018-19 namely “Sales and Display Center at Mirpurkhas” and “Project for Improvement of livelihood and Well-being of Female Home Based Workers (FHBWs) (JICA)” where in training will be given to rural women of Sindh to run their own business.

A scheme namely Establishment of Sales and Display Center at Mirpurkhas” included in the ADP 2017-18 and 2018-19 for more participation of women in cottage industries.

 *3765. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Women Development be pleased to state:-

(a)        Is it a fact that a media center is being established by the Directorate of Women Development;

(b)        If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the details thereof?

 ANSWER

SYED MURAD ALI SHAH (Chief Minister), Minister for Women Development:

  (a)        Under ADP scheme a media cell was established in Directorate of Women Development Sindh, Karachi in 2010 and the Scheme completed on 30th June 2016.

  (b)        Government has made various commitments, signed conventions and charters at national and international level, which requires continuous media campaign through national and regional languages via electronic and print media by articles writing in newspapers, publication of brochures, walks, etc. women issues also highlighted through workshops, discussions, seminars, conferences and congregations with proper media publicity.

 *3767. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Women Development be pleased to state:-

Location-wise women development offices in Sindh along with procedure/criteria by which the relief has been provided to the women by the department?

 ANSWER

The Procedure/Criteria:

The Women Development Department provided relief to the women specially violence affected women through its field office besides seven Complaint Cells and four Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Centers for Women (SBBWC) are providing relief to the victims of gender-based violence. These centers have been established in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad and Jacobabad. Each complaint center has a psychologist working to provide the necessary counseling and treatment to the women victims of violence. In addition legal and medical assistance is also provided through these centers. The WDD is also establishing of women complaint centers in all remaining districts.

 *6506. MR. KAMRAN AKHTAR: Will the Minister for Women Development be pleased to state:-

Grade-wise number/name of persons recruited in Women Development Department during 2015-16 alongwith criteria followed for it?

Nil.
