*1288. MS. NAILA MUNIR: Will the Minister for Information be pleased to state:-

(a)   Criteria/procedure followed by the department to give advertisements to newspapers and magazines;

(b)   Name of newspapers/magazines given advertisements by the department during April, 2008 to November, 2013 including the amount incurred on it?

 ANSWER

SYED NASIR HUSSAIN SHAH, Minister for Information:

    (a)      The advertisements are given to newspapers and magazines on merit basis as per the Advertisement Policy 2011, which defines merit as under:-

i.     The ideological tenor of the daily newspaper.

ii.   Islam is the ideology of Pakistan.

iii.  Commitment to the integrity of the state.

iv.  Relative objectivity in reporting.

v.    Daily press trends towards projection of the governmental activities.

    (b)      The advertisements are released only to the newspapers/periodical borne on the Sindh Information Department Media List.

Steps taken for the security of journalists specially during live coverage in bad condition of law and order at different places?

 ANSWER

SYED NASIR HUSSAIN SHAH, Minister for Information:

The maintenance of law and order which also includes the security of journalists falls within the domain of Police/Home Department. As such, the matter does not pertain to Information & Archives Department.

 *2666. MR. MUHAMMAD MOIN AAMIR PIRZADA: Will the Minister for Information be pleased to state:-

Number of posts filled in Information and Archive department on urban quota during 01-01-2008 to 15-03-2013 along with name, post, BPS and domicile of each employee?

 ANSWER

SYED NASIR HUSSAIN SHAH, Minister for Information:

The Information & Archives Department has filled in 107 posts of various grades from BPS-01 to BPS-15 on Urban quota at Headquarter, Karachi during the period from 2008 to 2013 by maintaining reserve quota of female, minorities, deceased and disabled. The lists are attached at Annexure, placed on the Table of the House.

Amount paid to journalists under the head of financial assistance during January, 2013 to January, 2014?

 ANSWER

SYED NASIR HUSSAIN SHAH, Minister for Information:

Information Department was not allocated any grant/funds in the head of account “Financial Assistance” during the period from January 2013 to January 2014.
