*843. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Irrigation be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that it has been disclosed that influential persons are stealing irrigation water from branches of Rohri Canal in Hyderabad and water is also being stolen from Hyderabad branch through more than 40 illegal lift machines, pipes and cuts;
(b) If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the action taken by the government in this regard?
ANSWER
SYED MURAD ALI SHAH (Chief Minister), Minister for Irrigation:
(a) It is submitted by the Executive Engineer Hala Division Hala that the answer to Article (a) no such incident regarding illegal stolen, theft of water illegal lift machines, pipes and neither cuts by influential persons in Hyderabad Branch.

Detail of work so far completed on LBOD and RBOD project?

*2814. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Irrigation be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that due to non-availability of water, sand is flying in Johi branch, Rice canal, Daim branch including various canals in district Dadu and there is threat that above 3 lac acres land will become barren;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the steps taken by the government in this regard?
ANSWER
SYED MURAD ALI SHAH (Chief Minister), Minister for Irrigation:
It is fact that there is shortage of water in tail of Johi Branch, the ADP. Scheme is prepared for re-modeling and rehabilitation of Dadu Canal and Johi Branch to overcome the shortage of water in tail of Johi Branch. whereas due share of water is being provided to all Khatedars of other Canal and Branches in District Dadu.
*5792. MR. KHURRAM SHER ZAMAN: Will the Minister for Irrigation be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that water logging and salinity negatively affect 38.5% of fertile land of the province;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the steps taken in this regard?
ANSWER
SYED MURAD ALI SHAH (Chief Minister), Minister for Irrigation:
As after effects of providing assumed water for irrigation purpose, the lands have been affected due to water logging and salinity which may have extended to 38.5% in Sindh Province.
To eradicate this problem drainage cover has been provided to 5.03 M acres of lands, by excavation of 837 numbers of drains having an accumulated length of 4970 miles. The drainage cover is being progressively extended to replenish fertility of lands.
Besides, 2255 numbers of saline water tube wells stands installed by the Government to suppress ground water table below root zone of the cultivated crops.
*6449. MR. KAMRAN AKHTAR: Will the Minister for Irrigation be pleased to state:-
Amount sanctioned for maintenance and repair of Kotri Barrage during 2016-17 alongwith amount actually spent and detail of works carried-out?
ANSWER

Sanctioned M&R amount Rs.24913100/- of Kotri Barrage Division, Jamshoro 2016-2017 amount actually spent Rs.24908120/-.
The details work carried out as per actually spent amount. (The expenditure statement is given below).
