*4513. MS. HEER SOHO: Will the Minister for Health be pleased to state:-
(a) Whether any laboratory of dog and snake bite exist in the province;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the location-wise details thereof?
ANSWER
DR. SIKANDAR ALI MANDHRO, Minister for Health:
(a) No laboratory of dog and snake bite exists in the province.
However, a laboratory under the title “establishment of Anti Snake Venom/ Anti Rabies Serology Laboratory in Sindh” is situated at bypass road Sakrand district Shaheed Benazirabad. The laboratory is producing quality anti-snake venom(ASV). The ever first WHO registered clinical trial of Sindh ASV has been conducted successfully during October 2015. Till to date 55 patients have been treated successfully DHQ Hospital, Mithi, THQ Hospital Islamkot and People’s University of Medical & Health Sciences (PUMHS), Nawabshah.
It is to mention that none of the patient required more than one vial for complete recovery which shows efficacy of vaccine.
The director of the institution has been retired on 31st May 2017 and now laboratory is under the control of PUMHS. Nawabshah.

*6634. MR. KAMRAN AKHTAR: Will the Minister for Health be pleased to state:-
Is it a fact that no anyone specialist doctor is available in only police Hospital in Karachi resulting patient are facing difficulties if so steps taken by the Department in this regard?
ANSWER
DR. SIKANDAR ALI MANDHRO, Minister for Health:
Yes, it is a fact that at present no any specialist doctor is available at Police Hospital, Karachi.
It is to mention that Police Hospital, Karachi is under administrative control of Police Department, however, doctors and paramedical staff are posted by Health Department to run the Hospital as a stop gap arrangement.
To make the hospital fully staffed, including creation of posts of specialist cadre doctors, a letter was sent by the then Medical Superintendent, to the Inspector General Police in November 2016 along with SNE for the year 2017-2018 for placing the same through Home Department.
*6640. MR. KAMRAN AKHTAR: Will the Minister for Health be pleased to state:-
District/hospital-wise number of cases of dengue virus reported in the Province during 2016 alongwith number of cases in which patients could not survive?
ANSWER
DR. SIKANDAR ALI MANDHRO, Minister for Health:
In the year 2016 total 2418 cases of Dengue were reported in the province. out of these 03 expired. The District/Hospital-wise list is attached at Annexure, placed on the Table of the House.
*6664. MR. KAMRAN AKHTAR: Will the Minister for Health be pleased to state:-
(a) District-wise number of blood banks exist in the Province;
(b) Is it also a fact that some illegal blood banks are working in the Province if so the detail thereof alongwith action taken against them?
ANSWER
DR. SIKANDAR ALI MANDHRO, Minister for Health:
(a) There are 159 Blood Banks in the Province. The district-wise list is at Annexure-I, placed on the Table of the House.
(b) The inspection, opening and closure of blood banks is a continuous process. The Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority (SBTA) conducts periodical inspection visits of blood banks and closes/seals those banks who do not meet the standard/criteria as prescribed by SBTA. The list of such blood banks is at Annexure-II, placed on the Table of the House.
