*1644. MS. RANA ANSAR: Will the Minister for Excise & Taxation be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that making different reasons the number-plates are not being issued to new motorcycles after their registration;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the reasons thereof?

 ANSWER

MR. MUKESH KUMAR CHAWLA, Minister for Excise & Taxation:

          No. it is not a fact.

          Number plates are being issued to newly registered motor vehicles. Last contract in this regard was awarded to M/s Progressive Engineering Associates @ Rs.330/- per pair (inclusive GST) for four wheelers and Rs.120/- per single plate (inclusive GST) for two wheelers. Accordingly, Work Order was issued for 166,000 pairs of four wheelers and 206,741 single plates for two wheelers (Annexure-I, placed on the Table of the House).

          Further the competent authority has approved procurement of 15% additional registration number plates for four wheelers (24900 pairs) and two wheelers (31011 single plates) from the same firm on the same rates/terms and conditions (Annexure-II, placed on the Table of the House).

This contract was for the year 2016-17, which has ended. Award of contract for the year 2017-18 is under process.

 *3422. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Excise & Taxation be pleased to state:-

Number of vehicles challaned having fancy number plates/no registration and number of vehicles of politicians challaned during the checking campaign conducted in September-October 2013 in Karachi?

ANSWER

MR. MUKESH KUMAR CHAWLA, Minister for Excise & Taxation:

It is to state that the Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department did not conduct any road checking campaign during the months of September and October, 2013. Such campaigns are conducted by the Traffic Police, who are empowered under Sections 114 and 115 of the Motor Vehicles Ordinance, 1965 to seize the documents and detain vehicles used without valid certificate of registration respectively.

 *4465. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Excise & Taxation be pleased to state:-

(a)      Is it a fact that a mini raw liquor factory exist at new water tank in the center of Mirpur Bathoro city (Bulri Shah Karim) where thousands of liter of liquor is being prepared and packed in plastic bags and glass bottles and the same are dispatched to different cities and villages on daily basis;

(b)      If answer to (a) above is affirmative, action taken by the department in this regard?

 ANSWER

MR. MUKESH KUMAR CHAWLA, Minister for Excise & Taxation:

    (a)      No mini raw liquor factory exists at new water tank in the center Mirpur Bathoro city (Bulri Shah Karim).

    (b)      However, directions have been issued to the concerned authorities to kept vigilant eye upon the said area and take strict action if such activities are noticed there.

Amount of property tax collected in district Karachi and Hyderabad during financial year 2015-16?

 ANSWER

MR. MUKESH KUMAR CHAWLA, Minister for Excise & Taxation:

Amount of property tax collected in Karachi Region and District Hyderabad are of Rs.1736.560(M) and Rs.81.701(M) respectively during the financial year 2015-2016.
