*1426. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Transport be pleased to state:-
Number of times the transport fare has been enhanced during 2009 to 2012 and to which extent?
ANSWER
SYED NASIR HUSSAIN SHAH, Minister for Transport:
During year 2009 to 2012 only one time had enhanced the fare.
*1615. MS. HEER SOHO: Will the Minister for Transport be pleased to state:-
(a) Total number of bus terminals in Sindh and number of functional and non-functional from the said above terminals?
(b) District-wise number of bus terminals to be constructed during 2008 to 2012 along with the number of the same actually constructed during above period?
ANSWER
SYED NASIR HUSSAIN SHAH, Minister for Transport:
(a) The Sindh Government is establishing bus terminals at Badin (4 acre), Thatta (1 acre) and Miro Khan (3 acre), these 3 terminals are likely to be completed and functional after June 2017. Moreover, the Revenue Department has allocated 100 acres land in Scheme 33 at Karachi for construction of terminal. Additionally, the Government has granted permission to M/s Al-Azam for establishment of “B” class stand at Sohrab Goth, the terminal, Yousuf Goth TMA (8 acre) for Balochistan bound busses (under administration of KMC), 1 acre Ex-KTC Depot Banaras (Private administrator), these 3 terminals are functional to facilitate the public. The work on Bus terminals at Rohri Bypass and Khairpur Bypass is also under process.

(a) Is it a fact that condition of private transport vehicles is being ruined day by day in the province;
(b) If answer to (a) above is affirmative, does government intends to start any scheme in this regard?

SYED NASIR HUSSAIN SHAH, Minister for Transport:
The Provincial Government has initiated Work on BRT Lines (Yellow, Red, Orange and Green lines) which is under process. The Transport Master Plan of Karachi is the 1st ever Transport Plan of Major cities of Pakistan. The Government has also allocated funds for implementation of Yellow, Red, Green & Orange BRT Lines. Work on Blue BRT Line is also under process:-

BRT GREEN LINE.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan has inaugurated the project of BRT Green Line and the construction work has since commenced. This corridor is 21 kilometers in length with estimated 400,000 ridership per day with system capacity of 23,000 pphdp.
BRT ORANGE LINE.
The Chief Minister, Sindh has also inaugurated the Orange Line project recently on 9th June, 2016. This project is being implemented from Government of Sindh's resources and the Project Corridor is 3.7 Kilometers in length with an estimated ridership of 50,000 passengers per day and the system capacity is 10,000 pphdp.
BRT YELLOW LINE
The BRT Yellow Line corridor is 26 km in length with ridership of 150,000 passengers per day. The project cost is Rs. 13 Billion.
Alignment:
Dawood Chowrangi to Regal Chowk Saddar and Numaish, via Road Korangi 8000, FTC, Shahrah-e-Quaideen.
The project is under implementation in PPP mode of procurement / financing. M/S (CUEC, UCD, BUCRBG CONSORTIUM) have won the contract.
The Concession Agreement is being finalized and would be signed very shortly.
BRT RED LINE:
This Corridor starts from Model Colony to Peoples Chowrangi (Near Mazar-e-Quaid) via University Road and is 21.5 km in length with ridership of 350,000 passengers per day. The estimated cost of this corridor is Rs. 12-15 Billion.
Government of Sindh has planned to develop infrastructure under its Annual Development Program (ADP) for which PC-1 is being prepared.

Detailed Engineering Design to be conducted by ADB
The Project is expected to be commissioned by 2018.
BRT BLUE LINE:
Blue Line is actually MRT/LRT Corridor proposed by JICA under the Mass Transit Master Plan. However, the Transport and Mass Transit Department has received an unsolicited proposal from Private Developer i.e. M/S Bahria Town Pvt. Ltd. to initially implement it as BRT Corridor with extended alignment (54 km in length).
Technical Committee constituted earlier has examined and submitted its report to PPP Unit for consideration by PPP Policy Board.
The PPP Policy Board has approved the hiring of independent consultant(s) to evaluate the financial model, project cost and the technical features of the project, and funding through Project Development Facility (PDF) for the same. The PPP Policy Board also approved to launch the project for private partner solicitation through a competitive tendering process.
*4337. MR. MUHAMMAD RASHID KHILJI: Will the Minister for Transport be pleased to state:-
Law under which diesel vehicles are converted into CNG fuel?
ANSWER
SYED NASIR HUSSAIN SHAH, Minister for Transport:
Under Section 22, 69, 74 and 96 of the Provincial Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965, the Transport Department has framed CNG Rules, however, as per directives of Honourable Court, the department has restricted the use of CNG as fuel in intercity public transport and school vehicles.
