SYED MURAD ALI SHAH (Chief Minister), Minister for Zakat & Ushr:

There is no specific program/scheme prepared by Zakat & Ushr department Government of Sindh to help the disabled. The disable person’s mustehqeen-e-zakat are being assisted from zakat funds as per procedure.

An amount of Rs.4.419 Million has been provided to 1277 disabled persons in the province during 2012-13 as per details given below:

Amount spent from Zakat fund under the head of marriage of poor and heirless girls during 2008 to 2012?

An amount of Rs.159.930 million out of Zakat fund have been spent for the marriage of 15993 poor and hairless girls during 2008-09 to 2012-13 under the head marriage assistance to unmarried women at Rs.10,000/- per mustahique girl. Year-wise details are as under:-

  (a)        Yes. 66 employees have been appointed in 2013 in field officers of Zakat & Ushr Department through Departmental Selection Committee. The advertisements were published in May 2012 and January 2013.

  (b)        The district-wise and grade-wise details of appointment are at Annexure, placed on the Table of the House.

          The procedure for distributing the Zakat in province is as under:-

Rs.500 per month per beneficiary paid in two installments @ Rs.3000 each through NADRA

From January 2014 allowance has been increased to Rs.1000 per month per beneficiary
