*3915. MR. ABDUL HASEEB: Will the Minister for Food be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that the requirement/target of wheat fixed have been achieved in the province;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the quantity of wheat purchased/imported during 2009-2010?

          ANSWER

MR. NISAR AHMED KHUHRO, Senior Minister for Food:

(a)      Against the target of 1,500,000 M.Tons fixed for crop 2009-10, a quantity of 1,496,958 M.Tons was procured. The annual wheat requirement of the province is about 1,100,000 M.Tons.

(b)      Due to abundant availability of wheat, question for import of wheat does not arise.

 *3917. MR. ABDUL HASEEB: Will the Minister for Food be pleased to state:-

Ex-factory price of flour fixed by the Government during 2009-10 along with steps taken by the Government to ensure the above sale price?

 ANSWER

MR. NISAR AHMED KHUHRO, Senior Minister for Food:

The Govt. of Sindh in exercise of the Powers conferred by Sub-Section(1) of Section.3 of the West Pakistan Food Stuffs (Control) Act, 1958 fix the Atta Prices (2 ½ No.) vide notification No.SO-(W)10(02)/2009, dated 28-08-2009 (details at Annexure, placed on the Table of the House) as under:-

·         Ex-Mill:       Rs.29 per kg

·         Retail:                   Rs.30 per kg

However, the Sindh Food department fix the Atta price and implementation of the same comes under the purview of district administration.

 *4147. MS. RANA ANSAR: Will the Minister for Food be pleased to state:-

Number of staff required to be posted in a food laboratory along with procedure adopted for the same?

          ANSWER

MR. NISAR AHMED KHUHRO, Senior Minister for Food:

The Finance department, Government of Sindh, Karachi has sanctioned following posts to functionalize the Food Quality Laboratory at SSG-III, Landhi Godwons Karachi for smooth functioning and timely inspection to process the quality tests and to monitor the quality of wheat flour flowing in the market for consumption of general public on standard basis in the year 2013.

The bifurcation of job description, the issue of appointment of the staff for Food Quality Laboratory is under active consideration in accordance with the policy/rules and the procedure already prevailing in the Government of Sindh for the purpose of appointment through advertisement by providing wide publicity in newspapers on merit basis.

 *4222. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Food be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that corruption of crores rupees has been made in the department at Kashmore, 27000 bags were found missing but after checking the record, it revealed that 30,000 bags were missing at main center of Kashmore;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the reasons thereof along with action taken against the officials involved?

 ANSWER

MR. NISAR AHMED KHUHRO, Senior Minister for Food:

(a)      The facts are that Mr. Muhammad Sharif Malik. Food Inspector during his incumbency as incharge of PRC/WPC Kashmore during crop 2012-2013, had misappropriated of 10753 wheat bags containing 1160.456 M.Tones amounting to Rs.42254457 and 1286 imported wheat bags amounting to Rs.3503064 (total amount of Rs.45757521).

(b)      In finalization of Departmental proceedings, major penalty for dismissal from service, besides recovery of Government loss amounting to Rs.45757521 was imposed upon him by the competent authority vide order dated.02.10.2014. The case was referred to Director General NAB Sindh for recovery of Government loss, under the NAB rules.

 *4353. MS. NAILA MUNIR: Will the Minister for Food be pleased to state:-

Quantity of hoarded wheat seized by the department during 30th June 2013 to 31st March 2014 alongwith steps taken in this regard?

 ANSWER

MR. NISAR AHMED KHUHRO, Senior Minister for Food:

No any quantity of hoarded wheat seized by the department during 30th June 2013 to 31st March 2014.
