As advised by the Chief Minister and in excercise of the powers conferred upon me under clause (1) of Article 112 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973, and other provisions enabling me in this behalf, I, Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Governor of Sindh, hereby dissolve the Provincial Assembly of Sindh on Tuesday the 19th day of March, 2013.

Summary of Proceedings

Pakistan People’s Party candidates Nisar Ahmad Khuhro and Shehla Raza were elected unopposed as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Assembly on Sunday. No other candidate had filed nomination papers for the posts.

Outgoing Speaker Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah scrutinised the candidates’ papers and declared them valid on 6th April 2008.

For the office of Speaker, four nomination papers were filed proposed by Haji Muawwar Ali Abbasi, Shama Mithani, Murad Ali Shah and Ayaz Soomro and seconded by Ahmad Ali Shah, Mukesh Kumar, Dr Sikander Mandhro and Muzaffar Ali Shujra.

Two nominations were filed for the post of Deputy Speaker proposed by Shazia Marri and Fayyaz Butt and seconded by Salim Khurshid Khokhar and Dr Nasrullah Baloch.

Syed Muzaffar Shah officially announced on 7 April 2008, Monday that Mr. Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and Mrs. Shehla Raza as Speaker and Deputy Speaker (Un-opposed), after which he administered oath to the new Speaker who would then swear in the Deputy Speaker.
