Fifty-seven NGOs are registered in District Tharparkar @ Mithi. Name of NGOs alongwith area of operation and field of Services is at Annexure, placed on the table of the House.

(a)   Is it a fact that a poverty survey is being conducted in the province;

(a)   Is it a fact that the cancelled scheme by the department to provide one thousand rupees per month to needy women is being revived from 30-09-2011 and the amount is being increased to two thousand rupees per month;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the details thereof?

(a)      Neither such scheme was proposed nor cancelled.

 *6931. MR. ARIF MUSTAFA JATOI: Will the Minister for Social Welfare be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that grant of 10 million rupees is to be awarded to a person per week through a lottery from the lists of those who applied for the defunct income support programme;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the details thereof?

*6950. MR. ARIF MUSTAFA JATOI: Will the Minister for Social Welfare be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that 41 million rupees has been allocated during 2011-12 for economic support to handicapped women throughout Sindh;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the district-wise details of expenditure to date alongwith the criteria for selection?

 ANSWER

MS. NARGIS N.D. KHAN, Minister for Social Welfare:

(a)      Yes.

(b)      The total expenditure incurred to date 40.770 million rupees for all districts of Sindh. Total 4921 number of sewing singer machines were purchased & distributed among those beneficiaries (Orphans, Girls/Widows House Wife and Handicapped Persons both male and female throughout Sindh specially in flood affected Districts. On completion of three months training of short curse. Distributed among the beneficiaries identified by the Committee so that they could be able to earn their livelihood and to enhance their family income.

 *6951. MR. ARIF MUSTAFA JATOI: Will the Minister for Social Welfare be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that 10 million rupees has been allocated during 2011-12 for establishment of      Darul Aman for rehabilitation of destitute women;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the reasons why it is confined to only two districts?

 ANSWER

MS. NARGIS N.D. KHAN, Minister for Social Welfare:

(a)      Yes.

(b)      As per demand and requirement by the Local Community and lack of accommodation in the existing Darul Amans. That’s why it was only confined to the two districts.
