Number of poly-technic institutes/vocational schools established in Sukkur, Shikarpur and Khairpur alongwith number of persons graduated from these during the period from 2006 to 2008?
ANSWER
MR. SADIQ ALI MEMON, Minister for STEVTA:
No institute is established during the corresponding period.
*2853. MRS. HUMERA ALWANI: Will the Minister for STEVTA be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that electricity transformer of Technical Training Centre, Thatta is out of order since long;
(b) If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, remedial measures taken by the Government in this regard?
ANSWER

(a) Yes.
(b) Transformer has been installed and operationalized in the month of June, 2010.

(a) Is it a fact that Government is planning to construct tutor/teacher colony for the teachers/ inspectors of technical training centre, Thatta;

At the moment no such proposal is in consideration.

District wise annual quota of the students in the “Technical Training Centers” in Sindh along-with District wise report of the same in detail?
ANSWER

There is no quota system for admission in regular programs and admission is open for all having Sindh domicile.

Number of institutions of disabled persons working in the Province along with budget allocated for them during financial year 2007-08?
ANSWER
MR. SADIQ ALI MEMON, Minister for STEVTA:
It is informed that there is no separate Institute for Disable persons working under the administration control of STEVTA.
However, 1% quota is reserved for admission in the Technical, Commercial and Vocational Institutions and 2% quota are reserved for recruitment.
*3628. MS. HEER ISMAIL SOHO: Will the Minister for STEVTA be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that the building of Government agro technical secondary school, Razzakabad is extremely in deplorable condition;
(b) If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the details thereof?
ANSWER
MR. SADIQ ALI MEMON, Minister for STEVTA:
(a) It is informed that Government Agro Technical Secondary School Razakabad Karachi is not functioning under the administrative control of Sindh Technical Training Authority, Karachi.
(b) However, above named schools are comes under the jurisdiction of Directorate of Schools Education concerned, as they are offering component-III subjects (Wood Working, Electrical, House Hold etc).
*4003. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for STEVTA be pleased to state:-
(a) What is Trade Testing and Certification;
(b) Is it a fact that Malies are also trained in the STEVTA Department;
(c) If answer to (b) above be in the affirmative, District-wise number of Malies Trained during 01-01-2009 to 31-08-2010?
ANSWER
MR. SADIQ ALI MEMON, Minister for STEVTA:
(a) Trade Testing is a methodology to access the skill and knowledge acquired by the candidates during the training. It is carried out on completion of training & those who qualify are awarded certificates.
The Trade Training Board was established under Section-5 (v) of National Training Ordinance, 1980. On the basis of Trade Testing the certification for Vocational Training is being done as per section.

(b) Malies (Gardner) are not trained in STEVTA Institutes.

(a) Is it a fact that the Government has allocated funds for vocational training to child labours during January, 2009 to December, 2010;
(b) If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative the district-wise number of child labour benefitted/likely to be benefitted through it?
ANSWER

No funds have been allocated during the corresponding period.
*5572. MS. HEER ISMAIL SOHO: Will the Minister for STEVTA be pleased to state:-
(a) District-wise detail/number of technical and vocational training centers for women exist;
(b) Is it a fact that any new centres have been opened in the province after 2008;
(c) If answer to (b) above be in the affirmative, the location-wise details thereof?
ANSWER
MR. SADIQ ALI MEMON, Minister for STEVTA:
(a) There are 80 vocational training centers/schools/institutes including 08 Government College of Technology/polytechnic/Monotechnic institutes in Sindh. The district wise details/ numbers of women institutes is at Annexure, placed on the table of the House.
(b) Yes, 50 new institutes have been established/functionalized after 2008.

*5819. MR. ARIF MUSTAFA JATOI: Will the Minister for STEVTA be pleased to state:-
(a) Is it a fact that the trainees under the SBBYDP are paid less than the minimum wage;
(b) If answer to (a) above is in the affirmative, when will they be paid minimum wages?
ANSWER
MR. SADIQ ALI MEMON, Minister for STEVTA:
(a) As for as the question of honorable MPA regarding wages to the BBSYDP is concerned, it is respectfully submitted that we are not paying any wage to trainees.
(b) However, stipend of Rs. 2,500 per month is being paid to them during the period of training.
*5989. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for STEVTA be pleased to state:-
Steps taken by Government to improve training facilities at vocational training institutes of the Province?
ANSWER
MR. SADIQ ALI MEMON, Minister for STEVTA:
Following Projects and steps have been taken the Government to improve Projects and Vocational Training:
(i) Strengthening of TEVT Institutes in the province under a World Bank funded project.
(ii) Establishment of 10 Model Institutes tentative completion in February, 2013.
(iii) 10 Institutes strengthened/established under public private partnership in partnership with Pakistan Air force, Sukkur IBA, British Petroleum, Hunar Foundation, NRSP, SRSO, Pakistan Stone Development Co. Pakistan Chemical & Energy Sector Skill Development Company, Family Education Service Foundation.
(iv) Specialized Training Programs for Transsexuals, Special Children and Prisoners.
(v) Establishment of 1st Technical & Vocational University.
(vi) 05 career guidance & counseling centers & will strengthen 17 employment exchanges.
(vii) Capacity Building: 1500+ employees trained.
(viii) Established 03 staff training centers.
(ix) Engagement of 392 visiting faculty during 2011-12.
(x) Establishment of Thar Coal Institute @ Tharparkar.
(xi) Introduced BBSYDP program to provide skills training to youth of Sindh province. STETVA is providing BBSYDP training at 103 centers in 23 trades where students are being provided free training with stipend of Rs. 2,500/- per month to per trainee.

It is confirmed that there are 248 institutions functioning under Sindh TEVTA having enrolment/trained capacity of 26,825.
*10089. MR. ARIF MUSTAFA JATOI: Will the Minister for STEVTA be pleased to state:-
The admission policy for entry into various training centres in Sindh?
ANSWER
MR. SADIQ ALI MEMON, Minister for STEVTA:
BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY (B-Tech)
Admission into B-Tech program is offered at GCT’s only. There are 60% seats reserved for the district on open merit and 20% seats are reserved for other districts. The remaining 20% are for reserved quota (son/daughter, reciprocal, disable and Arm Forces etc).
DIPLOMA OF ASSOCIATE ENGINEER
The Admission to Diploma of Associate Engineer offered at Government Colleges of Technology/Polytechnic/Monotechnic Institutes are allowed purely on merits and based on Entry Test, Marks (Grading) Generally in Polytechnic 60% Seats are allocated for district candidates where institute is located and 30% Seats are allocated to candidates for other districts. Whereas 10% Seats are reserved for Arm Forces/other Provinces, STEVTA employees and other candidates.
VOCATIONAL COURSES
In Vocational courses admissions are allowed on merit on all Sindh basis.
DIPLOMA IN COMMERCE
For admission into Diploma in Commerce (D.Com) offered by Government institute of Business & Commercial Education in Sindh are allowed admission on merit.
