 *5920. SYEDA MARVI RASHDI: Will the Minister for Transport be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that the Government has taken measures for the security of public transport vehicles in Karachi City;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in the negative, does government intend to do the same?

ANSWER

MR. AKHTAR HUSSAIN JADOON, Minister for Transport:

(a)&(b)Yes, the Government has taken measures for security of public transport vehicles in the Karachi city. The progress is being reviewed in the meetings of committees constituted by the Chief Minister, Sindh.

 *6716. MR. ARIF MUSTAFA JATOI: Will the Minister for Transport be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that there is no Law to control inter provincial movement of transport vehicles;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the reasons thereof?

ANSWER

MR. AKHTAR HUSSAIN JADOON, Minister for Transport:

(a)      The movement of inter-provincial transport vehicles is regulated under the provisions of Rule-70 of the Motor Vehicle Rules, 1969, which define for control of such vehicles.

(b)      All the vehicles operating on inter-provincial routes are regulated by the Provincial Transport Authorities of provinces with their concurrences by fixing ratio of permits on the basis of distance of route following within their jurisdiction.

 *6979. MR. ARIF MUSTAFA JATOI: Will the Minister for Transport be pleased to state:-

The district-wise number of Public Prosecutors of all grades in Sindh as on 31^st December, 2008?

 ANSWER

MR. AKHTAR HUSSAIN JADOON, Minister for Transport:

The post of Public Prosecutors does not exist in Transport Department.
