MIR ABID HUSSAIN KHAN JATOI, Minister for Livestock:

Poultry Research institute is working at Korangi Karachi (PRI).

Number of village women trained by the Government to breed livestock and increase their number as to how the artificial means of “Pregnancy Services” was provided from                 31-01-2008 to 30-06-2010?

MIR ABID HUSSAIN KHAN JATOI, Minister for Livestock:

(i)       No

(ii)      No any women were trained by Government to breed livestock.

(iii)    From 31-01-2008 to 03-06-2010, total 74833 animals were inseminated during said period.

 

 

*3601. MS. NUSRAT SEHER ABBASI: Will the Minister for Livestock be pleased to state:-

Names and performance of the two schemes introduced to increase milk and meat?

MIR ABID HUSSAIN KHAN JATOI, Minister for Livestock:

Only one scheme ADP No. 46 namely “Development of Milk & Meat Production in Sindh’ is for five years from 2006-07 to 2010-11 current financial year is last year of the scheme.

7 offices for Livestock Production Officers have been completed and taken over, and 22 field artificial insemination centers have been completed and taken over. Work on remaining 03 buildings for offices of Livestock Production Officers and 29 field artificial insemination centres are in progress.

The process of recruitment of staff for the scheme is under process.

 

 

*3919. MS. HEER ISMAIL SOHO: Will the Minister for Livestock be pleased to state:-

Detail/number of Dairy Farms at present working in the Province along with number of Dairy Farms Government intends to open in future?

 

ANSWER

MIR ABID HUSSAIN KHAN JATOI, Minister for Livestock:

In fact there is no any Government Dairy Farm functioning under the Administrative control of the Department. However following Livestock Experimental Stations, Livestock Breeding Farms are functioning:-

(i)       Livestock Experimental Station, Nabisar Road (for Thari Cattle).

(ii)      Livestock Experimental Station Karachi, (for Red Sindhi Cattle).

(iii)    Red Sindhi Cattle Breeding Farm, Tando Muhammad Khan (for Red Sindhi Cattle).

(iv)     Livestock Development & Research Farm for Kundhi Buffaloes, Rohri.

(v)      Kamori Goat Farm, Khuda Abad District Dadu.

(vi)     Kooka Sheep Farm, Rohri.

 

The following are being established:-

(i)       Establishment of Bari Goat Breeding & Research Farm for Meat Development at    Tando Allahyar.

(ii)      Establishment of Research & Breeding Farm for Pateri Goat Breed at Tando Adam.

(iii)    Establishment for Research & Extension for Small Ruminants at Dhoro Naro      District Umerkot.

(a)   Is it a fact that five schemes of the previous tenure has been closed for which about          370 million has been spent;

(b)   Is it also fact that steps are being taken to run them again;

No livestock was registered during 2006-2009.

 

 

*4195. MS. SHAMA ARIF MITHANI: Will the Minister for Livestock be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that Government is proposing to establish cattle colonies with public & private participation in the province;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is in affirmative, the details thereof?

 

ANSWER

MIR ABID HUSSAIN KHAN JATOI, Minister for Livestock:

(a)      Yes.

(b)      Construction of Cattle Colonies at 06 locations were proposed under the Development scheme “Establishment of Cattle Colony with District & Private Participation Phase-I”.

Construction of work at following four locations have been started during 2008-2009.

(i)       Mehrand, Deh Chachi Mora Union Council Khetlari, Taluka Diplo District Tharparkar.

(ii)      Near Naukot Fort Union Council Mohrano Taluka Mithi District Tharparkar.

(iii)    Umerkot Tappa Additional Keplore Taluka and District Umerkot.

(iv)     Tapo Khanpur Taluka Khairpur District Khairpur.

 

 

*4196. MS. SHAMA ARIF MITHANI: Will the Minister for Livestock be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that Bhambhor dairy village & processing zone for meat animals is being established with public private participation at Thatta;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is in affirmative, the details thereof?

 

ANSWER

MIR ABID HUSSAIN KHAN JATOI, Minister for Livestock:

(a)      Yes. The Bhambore Dairy village and processing zone for meat animals will be established with public private participation at Thatta.

(b)      The PC-I of the scheme is in the final stage and the implementation on the program will be started during current financial year i.e. 2010-2011.

 

 

*4197. MS. SHAMA ARIF MITHANI: Will the Minister for Livestock be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that Bari Goat Breeding and Research Farm for meat development is being established by Government;

(b)   If answer to (a) above is in affirmative, the details thereof?

 

ANSWER

MIR ABID HUSSAIN KHAN JATOI, Minister for Livestock:

(a)      Yes.

(b)      Construction work has been carried out by buildings department and is yet under process.

 

 

*4233. MS. FARHEEN MUGHAL: Will the Minister for Livestock be pleased to state:-

(a)   Is it a fact that Government is establishing disease free zone of livestock in the Province;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the district wise details thereof?

 

ANSWER

MIR ABID HUSSAIN KHAN JATOI, Minister for Livestock:

(a)      Yes.

(b)      Livestock Department, Government of Sindh intends to create disease free zones, but as first step, it is proposed to create disease control zones in District Tharparkar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur and Badin under the scheme it is proposed to improve disease surveillance, and control of epizootic disease like Food and Mouth Disease (FMD), Pest des Petits Ruminants (PPR) etc through ring vaccination.

After successful implementation, it is proposed to extend to other districts, which will make it possible to create disease free zones.

 

 

*4260. MS. RASHEEDA PANHWAR: Will the Minister for Livestock be pleased to state:-

District-wise steps taken or being taken for development of milk in meat production in Sindh upto 31-11-2010?

MIR ABID HUSSAIN KHAN JATOI, Minister for Livestock:

Development Scheme ADP. No. 46 Development of Milk & Meat Production in Sindh.

For the Development of milk & meat Production in Province of Sindh steps have been taken through implementation of Development Scheme Milk & Meat Production in Sindh this will provide latest technology of Animal Breeding i.e. Artificial Insemination at the door steps of livestock farmers. Under the scheme, infrastructure and recruitment of staff is under process. Following Districts are to be covered under the scheme “Development of Milk & Meat in Sindh”.

The total number of Veterinary Hospitals & Dispensaries in Sindh is 172 and the total number of Veterinary Centers is 786 total technical and para-technical staff working in Sindh Province is 1739, which are meant for Disease control and treatment of ailing animals are as under:-

(b)      The answer to (a) above is affirmative, Government of Sindh has launched a development scheme namely “Construction and up-gradation of veterinary centers to veterinary dispensaries”. Six livestock farms are working at following locations in the Province as on 31-10-2010.

(a)   Is it a fact that the government is establishing modern veterinary health/extention centers and semi centers in the province;

(b)   If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative, the district-wise details thereof?

(a)      Yes.

(b)      Livestock Department, Government of Sindh intends to launch a new scheme through       ADP 2010-2011 namely “Provision of Modern Veterinary Services in Veterinary Dispensaries @ New Cattle Colony Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas. Thatta and Larkana”. Scheme is under process.

(a)   Is it a fact that Bostan injection is being injected to the livestock;

(b)   Is it also a fact that artificial Bostan injection is being sold in the market;
